Oh sure, when I was a kid I rarely went a summer without getting stung by yellow jackets. Haven't been stung in several years recently though.

Ironically for someone who has a SERIOUS phobia (I can't even look at photographs without feeling anxious), I have no clue whether I've ever been stung or not.

Stung by all four, assuming "etc" is a stand-in for a woman.

The worst case for me was when a wasp got stuck in my shirt and gave me a half-dozen hits before I thought to disrobe. The worst case I've seen was when a vespa velutina nest the size of a Swiss Ball crashed next to my poor girlfriend and she was stung close to 40 times before making it into the ocean. Closest avoid was when a Japanese "sparrow bee" latched onto my thigh, and I had the wit to knock it off and trap it under a basket of potato chips before being hospitalized.

Nonetheless I love the hardworking little stingers. I just keep my distance, from all but the lattermost.

Once, by I think a hornet? I was young. For some reason, my mom didn't believe I was stung, she said a branch just poked me.

My earliest recollection is being stung at the beach in Hawaii as a kid. Ruined that day. I've had several more throughout my life.

Also, I want nothing to do with that sparrow hornet!!

Yes. On my eyelid, when I was about seven years old.

I was standing the in the playground at school with new glasses on (I had a patch over one eye). A wasp/bee/fucker was buzzing around, flew between my eye and the lens of my glasses. Landed. Buzzed. Flew against the inside of my glasses. Buzzed.

I froze. Trembled. Cried.

Then I sobbed, and it stung me right on the eyelid. It hurt like a motherfucker.

I'm only now getting over my fear of bees/wasps.

A few times. Most notably when a friend and I were visiting an art instillation in California (Cristo's Umbrellas). It was early morning and we were surrounded by other visitors. We walked up to a ridge to get a better look of the whole instillation; we could see everyone and they could see us. We're walking along this ridge, my friend a little ahead of me, when I feel something in my hair. I put my hand up to it and felt and heard a buzzing. I panicked and started running after my friend, bent over and pointing to my head. He had no idea what was going on so started running away from me. From below it must have looked insane: a big guy chasing after a little guy, pointing to his head and making wild sounds for a good minute or so.

I got stung in the head, first time that's ever happened.

Huh. I honestly didn't think it was that big of a deal that I've never been stung, but I guess I've never paid much attention to the fact that most people I know have been stung by some insect or another.

Given where I live now, and how many scorpions we have around the house, it's only a matter of time before one of those bastards stings me. My neighbors have been stung upwards of 5 times over the last 3 years or so. Hopefully my cats continue to do a good job keeping them away from us, but I have a friend who just recently stepped on one going to the kitchen one night to get a drink of water. Bastards are sneaky.

Yeah, that's disturbing. I've definitely never been stung by a scorpion.

They're fairly common in Arizona, especially where I live. We have a bi-monthly extermination service come out, but since we're right on the preserve there are a ton of different species of insects and animals around. I've also found two snakes in my house, and one in my pool. They were garter snakes, but still, we've got stuff, and bark scorpions are by far the worst.

The ONE benefit to living in Canada's asshole (Winnipeg) is that we have no insects/bugs that are capable of stinging us to crippling pain besides the bums and criminals with their shanks.

Same with I think everywhere else in Canada. Never saw scorpions in Alberta and I'd been to the badlands a number of times.

Weren't you bitten by a spider really badly too? I could've sworn someone on here or back at the old site had a major spider bite.

Brown recluse bites basically eat away the skin. We should consider ourselves lucky that they were blocked.

Once by a bee. It was sort of funny. I was riding my bike and felt a massive pain on the back of my hand out of nowhere that made me nearly wipe out. Looked at my hand and saw a bee fall off, leaving its stinger, as bees are known to do. Picked it out and then went home. Had to go to the doctor a couple days later for him to pick out the bit of stinger I didn't get out, which had caused an infection.

I always figure that poor bee was flying along, minding it's own business when I must have impacted it as I rode by, and it didn't even really mean to sting me.
