I'm loving the game (XBO). But I'm a few patches in.

No single player DLC confirmed by Bioware over the weekend.

The ending was the strongest part of the game, too bad they're not taking the opportunity to build on it and maybe redeem the brand a bit. A strong piece of single player DLC could build a lot of good will.

Honestly the main path was pretty great, they just floundered on the open world filler. Hopefully Casey Hudson being back means we see another Mass Effect sooner rather than later.

I've still yet to get round to playing this and now it's basically dead it's really hard to drum up the enthusiasm to buy it.

Shame as ME was one of my favourite series last gen. Glad I waited on reviews for Andromeda since it sounded shaky at launch. Just a shame they've let it die now.

That stinks. This has been my only game for months now, and I was hoping to continue the story. Ah well. Loving the game, it really takes the series in a good direction, imo.

Honestly when it goes down in price by another 20$ it's a decent buy.

I paid full price and don't regret it at all. I've certainly gotten many, many hours of entertainment out of it. Easily at least 60 (I like exploring). So that's a buck an hour. Not even discount rates down at the docks are that good.

It was one of my favorite series of the last gen as well. Mass Effect 2 is my second-most played game on Steam at nearly 200 hours (beaten only by TF2).

At one point I considered getting a Mass Effect tattoo and decided to wait to see if the new game would continue the strength of the franchise. Glad I waited!

Just finished this. Such a shame, I really loved it. They had so many questions left unanswered that'll just languish. I don't get all the hate this game got, I enjoyed it tremendously.

Some legitimate complaints got blown out of proportion, shame that EA had such a drastic response. We both benefitted from waiting for multiple patches before diving into it, so maybe it was really that bad at launch?

I think so. The internet killed this game as much as the actual game did, I think. The weirdest thing I saw technically was the angara moving around like weird muppets on occasion. I think they just didn't know how to animate that body type.

Damn shame. My favorite species (quarian) was not in this game and it looks like they were going to bring them along in DLC.

Well, when I started a new character I had a game breaking script bug.

and yeah the animations were dead pan and let's be real here the story isn't exactly gripping, at least for the first 3 worlds

This. It was a mess. The internet didn't break this franchise. Bioware's C-team did.

Duke, let it go, you're really freaking boring.

civil,

I'd agree with your impressions. I went into it with certain expectations, and they were met and exceeded. It's easily my second favorite ME game, and I'm really disappointed in EA's decision.

I was agreeing with Exodus and you were not even part of the discussion.

You should let go responding to my posts.

The game really picked up for me after the 3rd planet and I got more into the angara culture. But before that it was pretty rough. The patches helped a lot. The mods helped even more.

I think with a few mods it's a great game worth 40$

What mods are worth looking into? I never even considered looking for mods for a Bioware game.

I couldn't stand pebe's bandit mask tattoo so i removed that.
Ironman jetpack mod because the nomad blows.
There's a lot of weapon/skill tweaks if you're interested in that.
Weapon tweaks.
Shorter screens for landing/departure.
Cooldown removal of your dodge.
Vendour inventory tweak so they don't run out of stuff so you don't have to sit there and game the system reloading over and over just to get a buncha stuff you need.

and of course the plethora of cosmetic tweaks/changes

I have well over 50 hours into this game, and I am still not sure what I think about the open world of Mass Effect Andromeda. I think it is weird that the game is essentially a higher quality version of the poorly received planet exploring in the Mako areas of the first game. It basically makes everything take longer, the open world trick to extend playtime. Some of the quests have you hopping back and forth between your ship, the surface, the city, the ship, etc. and it can drag on.

The combat is more grindy, but not as bad as Dragon Age Inquisition. I am pretty sure I like it more than DAI, but not by much. Mainly because I prefer the setting. The characters are more bland than previous titles, like the DAI characters. They aren't really bad, just not as memorable. But that could also be the side effect of being the 4th game in the series. The Krogan is so far my favorite.

So far my favorite planet to explore was the asteroid with low gravity. The Nomad is my favorite vehicle of the series, while the tempest feels empty. I do like the idea of the initiative and trying to colonize other planets.

Crafting is ok I suppose, but at this point in the game I have so much money I can really only make slightly better gear that I can buy. So it is a little redundant and was only included because every game has crafting these days.

The remnant areas got boring quick and are now tedious to do. Some of the missions are not clear how to complete them due to the open world nature of the game. Just too many missions once you open up several planets.

But so far it is enjoyable enough to keep me coming back for more Ryder.

I should track down the shorter screens for landing/departure. That is getting really old.

Hmmm, I would need to use a mod manager and launch the game from the mod manager. No thanks.
