The English voice acting is pretty bad, but I imagine that playing with the Japanese voices would annoy me even more.

It would help if the lips even remotely lined up with the words.

I might actually be willing to play through it in English if Rex's voice actor wasn't the worst of the bunch. I think Nia and Pyra's English voices are fine.

Sometimes the lip sync is way far off, true. And Rex is irritating at times, but I got through Baten Kaitos and original resident evil - I can endure anything in this regard.

Anyone know what area of the UK these accents are from? Ardainians sound... Maybe Scottish? I dunno. And Nia is maybe Irish?

Nia is Welsh. Ardainians are Scottish. Rex sounds a bit like he's from Northern England.

Neat! And I know Urayans appear to be Australian, or at least some of them.

From a recent livestream that SEGA of Japan held, they've released a new trailer and a 40-minute gameplay demonstration.

New direct is out but it's mostly ports. Some notable ones are The World Ends with You, Ys VIII, and Dark Souls.

Quite a few games to look forward to in there, even if there isn't much new.

Portable Dark Souls is probably something that's going to get me to rebuy that game. I mean, damn. I don't really care about the others aside from Ys 8, but I own that already so I'm not going to rebuy it. Until it's cheap. Because I have a Falcom sickness.

Man, that opens the door for more Falcom ports now. They need to get the Legend of Heroes games on the Switch ASAP.

Hyrule Warriors Ultimate Edition? Damn it! I bought the 3DS version last year but haven't played it yet. This would be so much better, but I really don't want to buy it again. Including all of the DLC might make it worthwhile though. There is a ton of DLC for the 3DS and Wii U versions, and separate DLC at that.

Other highlights:

*New outfits coming to Mario Odyssey, woo!
*Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze port - This game is really good. I won't be double dipping, but I would highly recommend it to anyone interested.

All in all not a bad amount of content, but it was quite short. Given the ridiculous levels of hype and the rampant rumors and speculation that circulated around this Direct, I imagine that there are a lot of cranky Nintendo fans this morning.

If you're a Nintendo fan in 2018 and you're cranky, you haven't been a Nintendo fan very long. (Abstract "you" here - not Mags) We haven't been this spoiled for riches since the SNES. There are more great games on the Switch than I have time to play or money to buy. Anything announced right now is just gravy (and Dark Souls is pretty good gravy).

Since I was already beaten to the punch, the Mini Direct has been uploaded to youtube:

Hey I agree. I just know that there will be people upset after all the hype that was built up, but that's not really Nintendo's fault.

There wasn't much in the Direct that personally excited me. Actually the thing I'm most excited about is more content for Mario Odyssey. I'm sure Nintendo have a few tricks up their sleeves for later in the year, and there will likely be a few games between now and summer that catch my interest. In the meantime, I have plenty in my backlog to play, and several games I have yet to pick up. The Switch has had a fantastic first year.

The hype levels building up around this direct were stupid but if you're the kind of person that believes every rumor you hear on the internet maybe a little disappointment is what you need to reground yourself.

Personally, the thing I'm most interested in from the direct is Hyrule Warriors but I've been waiting on a sale to pick up Fire Emblem Warriors and even with DLC for Hyrule included Fire Emblem seems like the better game. I'll probably eventually pick up DK as well but it's not a franchise that excites me.

Nintendo did more in 15 minutes than they've done at some E3's in the past 5 years. Wish it was more than just a bunch of ports + a couple actual new games, but we were spoiled last year with major releases almost every month.
