Set Your Calendar - Original Xbox Games Available Tomorrow via BC

One of the actual surprises of this year's E3 was the announcement from Phil Spencer that original Xbox games would be available via backwards compatibility to play on Xbox One.

Since the announcement was made, little has been heard officially, save the occasional "we're still working hard on that" statement from the folks over at Xbox.

Well, much like the out-of-the-blueness of the original announcement, Bill Stillwell, Lead Program Manager of the Xbox Platform, today announced that the following 13 games will be playable TOMORROW (October 24th, 2017):
  • BLACK
  • BloodRayne 2
  • Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
  • Dead to Rights
  • Fuzion Frenzy
  • Grabbed by the Ghoulies
  • King of Fighters Neowave
  • Ninja Gaiden Black
  • Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
  • Psychonauts
  • Red Faction II
  • Sid Meierís Pirates!
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

But wait, there's more:

I am SUPER excited about Black and Crimson Skies! What about y'all?

Crimson Skies was a great game. None of the others really jump out at me, that I couldn't play on PC at least.

Yeah, everything else had superior versions elsewhere, but Crimson Skies and Black are gems. It's still awesome that Microsoft is doing this, though.

Seriously, though, for someone who didn't play it when it was new, it hasn't aged well. I wanted to like it.

I excitedly tried Black this morning (6:30am), and it didn't work. I had a sad.

I prefer remasters and updates of older games: They just don't hold up all that well most of the time.

Looking forward to Crimson Skies for sure. The others, we'll see. :)

I tried a bit of Ninja Gaiden Black as I owned it on the 360 as a download. It holds up quite nicely. My only issue is the camera turning horizontal axis is backwards for me. Can’t remember if that’s how it was originally and can’t find anyway to switch it.

Interesting after all this time. If the Xbox One was fully BC with the original Xbox and 360, I would likely have purchased one by now. I barely have any original Xbox games, and I believe my 360 plays all of the ones I do have.

I believe, although I'm not certain, that the game was like that originally.
