Uncharted Jumping to the Silver Screen
Time to start the Nathan Drake casting rumors.
Columbia Pictures - a division of Sony - has acquired the film rights to Naughty Dog's Uncharted. They already have a writer - Kyle Ward - who is already attached to a pair of game adaptations: Kane & Lynch and the just announced Hitman 2. Columbia doesn't yet have a director, but it's being produced by veteran Avi Arad and his team. It's believed that the film would carry the title "Drake's Fortune" rather than Uncharted. No word on a target window for the film's release. Source - Hollywood Reporter. |

They should totally just get his actual voice actor:

I agree. While playing the game this is who I always pictured in the flesh.

That would be at least two kinds of awesome.
Scarily enough, an Uncharted movie could work really well. Too bad Hollywood takes pleasure in screwing up movies based on games as much as possible.

Yeah, it will probably be crap or way out of touch. I do think they wouldn't have to change much, all the setpieces and story are pretty well fitted for a movie.

Well, he's also doing PoP, or Drake of Persia so to speak.

I'm not one of those who say it will "ruin the game" but it will be a terrible adaptation.
The game is basically a movie, why would you need to make a movie of it? |

For all it's worth this would make a fun movie on it's own. More so than Tomb Raider ever could.

Considering what's been done to Indiana Jones the time is ripe for a new adventure series that's actually enjoyable. What do we have right now? The Mummy? National Treasure? We deserve better.

If they get people who could actually write a script behind this, it could be a good thing. As has been mentioned, the game is essentially one big movie as it is, so it would be tough to totally screw things up. They just need to cast Fillion or North as Drake, as going with anyone else would just feel wrong.
I'd almost rather they do a CGI movie that essentially was a gussied up version of the in-game cutscenes. They look so good that it would just be a matter of tweaking them slightly to reduce some of the 'gaminess' and add that extra bit of polish and voila. Though it's also one of the few game franchises that could be done live action and not feel at all out of place. Most games are so cartoonish in one form or another that making them live action just feels off, but this one would work.

Really, for most movie games your audience is people who have played it. They're not going to break into the mass market with Uncharted, I'm surprised that Tomb Raider was able to do so (though I give most of the credit to Ms. Angelina Jolie for that one). I agree that it would be a fun movie, it was the first time when I played it on PS3 and it was Uncharted: The Game.

I could see this becoming a great film.
Emphasis on the "could", as with all game movies I won't be holding my breath. ![]() IMO the only good one to date is Silent Hill. |

Let Naughty Dog write it, let Fillion be Drake.
