Pre-Order Assassin's Creed 2, Get a Palazzo

Who's ready for more Gamestop exclusive pre-order bonus news? That's what I thought.

Gamers who reserve their copy of Assassin's Creed 2 at Gamestop will receive an exclusive environment to explore: the Palazzo Medici Ricardi (shown above) in Florence. Ubisoft doens't say what, if anything, you'll be able to do in the Palazzo other than run around and enjoy the view. But this does seem to indicate that the scope of the game will spread beyond the previously announced confines of The Veneto.

Assassin's Creed 2 will be released on the PS3 and 360 this fall.

I'm going to wait to see if Amazon scores any pre-order bribe as I rather go with Amazon. If nothing that interesting for a bribe to pre-order...then i'll rent it most likely.

Meh, can't order from them. While I'll buy this based purely on the fun I had in the first I do hate not being able to explore everything because of silly pre-order frenzy.

Still if they do the usual stupid £20+ for some book and this I'll pass.

That's a strange pre-order bonus for sure.

I'm undecided about AC2, I enjoyed the first, but if it's just "more AC, this time in Venice" I'll wait for a price drop. I know they're adding new moves, but that trailer looked a lot like the first game with an Italian skin on it. They're really going to have to expand on what you do for each assassination.

I don't understand. Will the palazzo just be dropped into the middle of Venice? Will Florence be in the game, but the palazzo closed to players that didn't buy this? Will it just be a separate area to tool around in? I don't see the point.

I'm getting AC2 (my wife loved the first one) but this seems like a weird incentive.

I think this means the game will cover more of Italy than just Venice. Just like the first one put you in 3 or 4 different cities in the Crusader kingdoms.

In-game content as pre-order bonuses are made of fail. I basically never buy these games, since I rarely pre-order anything, and I don't buy products when features are denied to me like this.

Whatever, I doubt that they care, and it isn't as if I bought the first game. It is still an annoying trend. I'd much prefer some kind of exclusive merchandise, like a little figure or what-have-you.

(Yeah, I played both of those games to completion. I had my nieces and nephews down that summer.)

They did say there will be collectibles in the game, but it will not be in the form of flags.
