[E3 09] Video of Alienware m17x

Dukefrukem, get ready! Scott asked and got your questions answered at Alienware's booth and it's been immortalized in video. Many of you probably won't care, but this laptop does look pretty cool on the asthetics level. Here is the laptop and some gameplay of Dark Void on it:

There will be more video from yesterday coming from Scott, but the media room was slower earlier today than yesterday and he could only get this one up before his meetings.

Unless they come up with an appropriate portable power source, Gaming laptops are useless.

It does look good though and num pads are always awesome.

I'm sure you're more or less dependent on having a power outlet and a sturdy surface for gaming, but it's still a lot easier to take it with you than a desktop gaming PC.

i love my alien ware lap top... I got rid of all my desktops years ago and most places anymore have a place to plug laptops in so its no biggy. I was spending alot of time at hospitals for family members so i could pack it up and go. Or if i want to go out to my moms i still have a useable portable Pc that i can play games on....

I went for a 17" 'Desktop Replacement' laptop a few years ago... It was too heavy to cart around efficiently, and the fact that I could upgrade limited it's potential. I could only recommend this to someone who has money to burn.

I want a DTR. It can be at the desk 80% of the time. I don't think a 17" lappy would be too much harder to move when I need it at other locations. Also it would be good to duel screen with my LCD HDTV.

But then I'd want a netbook to be ultramobile with.

I hate how extreme these look.

Exactly. Sure it plays games, but does it really have to glow in the dark?

What are you talking about? They're not designed to play off battery power. Their designed to take the power TO game on the go.

As a hardcore PC gamer, I use a gaming laptop for both easy cooling solutions and easy LANing. It's not about gaming while on the go.

Have you tried it?

Riley, knock it off...I knew when I saw you had replied to this that it was going to be snarky comment. You should really work on discussing with people and not belittling them. It's a cycle for you, you shut it off for a while, but you always come back to where you were.
