[E3 09] Shadow Complex Screens

Click to see the rest of the images

While the retail games and dashboard widgets got the most play at Microsoft's press conference, the good old XBLA got some love as well. Yesterday we brought you Joy Ride, today we bring you Shadow Complex. Developed by Epic Games, this 2.5D shooter looks to combine some old school gameplay with some sweet new graphics.

Oh, and in case the screens aren't enough, you can also see the trailer by clicking the 'more' button.

Can't get enough E3? Then check out the rest of our coverage!

This does look good. I'm going to guess it will be at least $25.

I love the look of this game, can't wait to get my hands on it. I still would love to see a Flashback sequel done something like this.

Even the map they showed while playing the game at the presser made it look like a Metroid/Castlevania 2D Gameboy/DS-like game.

There was a sequel to Flashback, it was called Fade to Black. Wasn't the same type of game, but it was indeed a sequel.

Someone could pick up the long dormant Flashback Legends on GBA, which took the series back to 2D. It died though when Delphine went bankrupt in 2002.

I'd heard this described as like Crusader: No Remorse. While I can see similarities, I can't say I wasn't slightly disapointed. I know that nobody uses the isometric camera angle any more, but it just didn't feel like Crusader without it. Still looks pretty cool though.

So the son looks like Christian Slater and the Dad sounds like him?

I don't know if I'd be into this. I wasn't a big Contra fan back then.

I'm really excited about this. It was the most exciting thing at Microsoft's conference to me. I love my Metroid style games, and I love Epic so it's a good combination.
