[E3 09] Star Wars: The Old Republic Teaser

You can't call this one a trailer, because not a lick of gameplay is shown, but this teaser for Star Wars: The Old Republic is too cool not to highlight. The BioWare-developed MMO is still a long way off, so videos like this will have to tide us over until then.

This looks like it's the intro cinematic. BioWare knows how to make awesome Star Wars cinematics.

And one of the presenters on G4 had the gall to say that it looked like real gameplay.

That video is shit hot, but let's hope the game can live up to it.

Galaxies is so far the only MMO that I've played to any great extent. I hope this can do better.

That's definitely Malak, and the masks on the other dark Jedi look like they were influenced by Revan's mask.

I really should beat KOTOR and get to KOTOR II some day.

A slick trailer for sure. There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that the game will be nothing like what you see in the video, so I don't know if that Video is going to help in the long run.

Looked like they went to show scouts and bounty hunters can be bad ass. I wonder if bots will be healers or something. Surely the force sensitive will be the stars. I wonder will the fate of Revan and the Exile be revealed. Oh in in the timeline thingy, Malak is dead.

Excellent trailer, almost Blizzard like quality. I wish they'd make a Star Wars movie with this kind of quality, would be a lot more interesting to me than the mmo.

This cinematic was, quite possibly, better than most of the features, and the cgi Clone Wars movie and series. Although part of me thinks that if they were to make a movie of this quality it would end up diluting the setting eventually. The KOTOR era has always had quality storytelling and visuals, from the comics to the games, so there's no telling how terrible it would get once they realized they could make a hell of a profit off of it.

Maybe it's better this way.

I couldn't imagine them making 3 along with an MMO, very unlikely.

Well they do have an MMO specific studio now in the States, but I'm thinking Bioware Edmonton is tied up with Mass Effect 2 and then 3, and Dragon Age Origins so yeah I unfortunately don't see KOTOR3 in the immediate future.

They seem to really want to get their own properties out there which in my opinion has been a mixed bag. They do good work with other people's IPs.
