[E3 09] Alan Wake Trailer
A the teaser trailer for Alan Wake. Little to no gameplay is shown, but it does shed some light on the tone, mood and setting of the game. Which is tentatively scheduled for an early 2010 release on the 360. |

I have a lot of respect for Remedy. Max Payne was a genuinely mature game, gritty, dark yet capable of self-depreciation. I've yet to play a plain shooter game on the same level as Remedy's creation.
![]() The trailer looks like a film rather than a game. I have high hopes for both Alan Wake and Heavy Rain. We need more games like these. Is this game coming out only on the Xbox 360 or is a PC version still planned?

Yeah, there was gameplay at the MS presser...they obviously couldn't show that in video that fast since it was played live I believe.

The gameplay video got me excited for it. It was one of the top highlights in the conference for me.

This here has me worried about Max Payne 3. No remedy, and no Sam Lake.

I like how the character is narrating as he goes along. It really puts forth what was said about things written in the manuscript coming true. Plus, the feel of a psychological/supernatural thriller movie is strong, and makes me smile

It's not a real Max Payne game if you aren't constantly second-guessing the script writer and wondering whether it's really really good writing or really really bad.

The self-narration was (to me at least) off putting for the first minute, but I actually began to enjoy it as the game footage continued. Stream of consciousness narration DOES convey a more personal level of thriller/ horror when applied correctly (as the demo showed). Plus, the story looks badass.

That gameplay footage was excellent. One thing which grabbed me was the animation, the character moved like a regular person, sometimes uncoordinated and flappy. Helped set the mood and atmosphere quite well and enhance a sense of unease and vulnerability (aside from all the killing of monsters with a torch)

The gameplay footage gave off a bit of a Condemned/Silent Hill vibe, which is most definitely a good thing. Easily the most promising thing I've seen come out of an otherwise incredibly disappointing E3 so far.

Damn. All my fear hot buttons were hit with that video. Darkness, uncertainty, things moving beyond site... tornado's. I also got a Silent Hill feeling out of this. I am gonna keep a close eye on this one.
