[E3 09] Metal Gear Solid: Rising Confirmed on 360 and Probably Multiplatform

We'll have more details shortly, but Konami has just informed us that Metal Gear Solid: Rising, just announced at the Microsoft press conference, will at least be out on the 360. This new MGS game will star Raiden, apparently in his 'Cyborg' form as seen in MGS4. No word on when it will be released. Also no word if there will be a PS3 release as well.

More on this as it develops.

Again, you might want to check on that exclusivity thing until it's reported elsewhere, I think Fox may have jumped the gun on that.

Yeah, in fairness the e-mail never said anything about an exclusive, timed or otherwise.

I don't see what Rising has to do with Big Boss though, perhaps that's another MGS for the PS3 (sort of like FF and FF: Crystal Chronicles)

The email said nothing about "exclusive" and with this generation, nothing except first party stuff has been exclusive.

I'm actually more shocked that it wasn't an MGS4 announcement, as I sorta figured the tie-in game would go to both consoles.

I like jumping the gun though. Seriously though, we should know tomorrow. It also sounds like the library will be coming to 360...at least G4 was talking about that.

I changed the title, it is not necessarily exclusive, but could be...we'll have to see. Like I said, countdown on the Kojima site ends in over 2 hours I think.

Seriously, a Raiden game could be totally bad ass. If I had to guess this would be about Raiden going after Sunny and subsequently being captured by the Patriots and having the cyber ninja experiments performed on him.

I would say that's very fortunate. The one thing that bothered me with all the MGS games is the robotic animations. Hopefully Raiden will be more nimble with all the production values.

Don't forget that early on in the press conference, the guy speaking (I forget his name) said "everything you see from this point on is exclusive to the 360". I would think that might include the MGS game that was shown later on.

I think that might have been deliberate to mislead people into thinking that. I viewed the game section as done once they started talking about last.fm and Facebook. That might just be false hope from me though. We'll see in the next few days.

I was kind of hoping he was going to announce a MGS anthology set with all 4 games being updated(if needed) and ported over. It'd be nice to be able to play through the whole series on a single system.

Who hasn't wanted to play as the cyborg ninja since they saw Grey Fox rip through the guards in the original MGS?

If it was exclusive I think they would have made more of a point of it... And I think they placed it when they did because it mirrored last year's bombsheel about FFXIII.

I could see this as becoming 2 separate series.
With the PS3 getting the Big Boss games and the 360 Getting the Raiden story.
Then you give a Adam story to the Wii using the Wiimote as a light gun.

Just a thought.
