Burnout Paradise - Big Surf Island Opens June 11th

It's been a long time coming, but there is finally a trailer and a release date for Big Surf Island, the major expansion to Burnout Paradise, one of the most DLC supported games from Criterion Games.

As you can see from the trailer, Big Surf Island is said to contain THE largest jumps anywhere in Paradise City. Not only that, but you'll get a brand new vehicle, the Carson Dust Storm, and 8 more cars you can unlock with new events and new freeburn challenges.

The new content hits on PC, PS3, & Xbox 360 on June 11th. No price has been announced yet.

Definitely a day one purchase for me here. I'll probably break down and snag a couple of the other recent updates too. It's been hard to hold off on the DeLorean this long.

Keep holding off. The ONLY one out of that pack that really does anything is the Nighthawk.

Now, that's just based on the actual function of the car in the game. You just want nostalgia and a cool gimmick, by all means...get the DeLorean.

I love that I bought this game a year out and they're still supporting it heavily. Great developer, more should be like this.

I like Burnout, Criterion and the company's dedication to their products but what's so great about the release of commercial DLC? Most companies do it nowadays; it's no longer a trend but a viable business policy so I don't see what the big deal is.

I think the big deal is that the first few DLC releases were free, which is uncommon in the console arena.

God, I so, so, so, so SO, SO... hope this is heavily supported by party mode, too. I hope there are a BUNCH of new party mode challenges in it!

For me, it's the fact that there is very little in the way of garbage released from Criterion and the paid DLC isn't a cheap cashgrab, it's honest to goodness content. I mean, the game is open all by itself and has a ton of replay-ability, but expanding the world and keeping it fresh like criterion is doing is right about what they are doing.

I'm not sure if I can explain it any other way.

So help me, if I have to get a new hard drive to download this, I'll be a little pissed. I've been holding tight with the 10GB that came with my xbox for a long time now

I had to give in and get 120 a while back. The small, baby hard drive sucks.

That's actually pretty good pricing for an expansion pack.
