[360] Star Ocean 4 Trailer

Even though Tri-Ace has been disappointing me ever since Star Ocean 2, I can't help but get excited about each game that they do simply because I love the way they look/sound. Here's the trailer for SO4 via Gamersyde. That looks fucking fantastic.

With the 2 PSP remakes coming soon, I think I'm going to try to play through the entire series, then this. That means giving 3 another chance after the remake for 2 comes out in January, hopefully I can get past it's flaws this time around.

Nah, I was fine with that. There was just something not right with the combat. I always felt like I had to babysit the other party members far too much, something I didn't have a problem with in SO2. I really really really loved the look of the game and the music.

So, I hate that Edge Maveric (What a name lol) looks about 12yo but hot damn that game footage looked fun as. I've never played a game in this series but I will be rectifying that with this one.

This is a prequel, so I highly doubt it. It probably couldn't hurt, though, and really, if you've never played SO2, you should.

Yep. SO 1 & 2 are the "good" ones, SO3 not so much.

It's not an awful game, it's just..... more flawed than the others. The battles just didn't feel right. That's my only real concern with SO4.

It's funny to watch these games battle systems in action. I'm not able to play them but I think this and Last Remnants has some nice direction as far as battles go.

SO3 was not that bad.. just a poor history and a painful combat system.. one day I have to came back to kill the secret bosses form Valkyrie Profile (Freya, Lenneth), and another one I don’t remember) to get all battle trophies.

SO4 trailer images looks very good(At the beginning is it CG or game engine??), but I hope they improve the battle action configuration for CPU controlled characters, putting something like the gambit system of FFXII than the stupid AI training process of SO3.

I was kind of luke warm on this when I just saw a cinematic trailer, but that combat looks amazing.

However, my lack of faith in the story is staggering. If you name the lead protagonist fucking "Edge Maverick", you better be making a spoof or your writer's are fucking retarded. My hope is that this is just really shitty marketers deciding how to translate Japanese names and not a name created by the writers because then there might be a good bit of chocolate inside this shit-colored shell.

Man, the guy is named "Edge Maverick"? I honestly wouldnt've thought it could get any worse than a character named Fayt (if you're going to name him Fate, at least have the decency to spell it correctly), but I guess I was wrong.

Didn't realize the SO1 remake was out in the US next tuesday. I'll probably have to pick it up.
