In Other News...April 23

- Hold Altair in your hand. Assassins' Creed now available for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

- Velvet Assassin, the WWII-based espionage game from SouthPeak Interactive, has gone gold. The game will be available next week for the 360 and PC.

- The Wii video shop is open for business...in Japan. No actual content for the service has been announced, but DSi owners will be able to download that content to their handheld for on-the-go viewing.

- Battlefield 1943 Hits XBLA/PSN This Summer For $15 - It will be released sometime in June for XBLA and PSN, with a PC release in September.

- You know what the 360 needed? MOAR Fishing Rodz!

- Come on, Kojima is just teasing the Zone of Enders fans now.

- Dish Network launches the Earth Channel, showing a real-time image of our planet from a camera mounted on their most recent satellite. In other words, a really, really wide-angle webcam.

- Soon you'll be able to Twitter directly from your brain. Because typing out those 140 characters can be exhausting. And if you thought knowing what Lady GaGa had for lunch was interesting, wait until you start getting tweets directly from her mind.

- Want to see Wolverine pick a fight with a Panda? What if the fight was written by the guy behind Lost, Fringe & Star Trek, Damon Lindelof?

- Peggle added to WoW - And you thought WoW was addicting before!

- 85,000,000 units of Final Fantasy sold since the series inception. 50,000,000 units of Dragon Quest, and 30,000,000 units of Tomb Raider - all told that's 165,000,000 units.

- And because nothing sells like pointless nostalgia, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are getting yet another feature film.

Makes me wish I had Gold. I will most likely grab this for the PS3.

Surprisingly, it's not a HD channel. It runs Classical music in the background which isn't bad but they have a "voice" pop in now and then. I suppose I can use it for background noise on the weekends. Too bad about the "voice" though.

I think I see my house...

Not sure I really want to play AC on my iPhone...let it be better than the DS version. I swear that had to be one of the worst handheld games i've ever played.

I'm looking forward to Velvet Assassin...

It's actually a spruced up version (graphically anyway) of the DS version which is to say it's still crap.

Hopefully Battlefield is worth the 15$, and it develops a decent (Cog) community on 360.

Doesn't that make Battlefield $5 per map? Plus there is now infinite ammo as well. I love me some updated Battlefield 1942, but it seems like there has been drastic changes and $5 a map seems somewhat steep.

Plus we have to wait for September to get the PC version? Wow.

Just started yesterday. It's a hodgepodge of news that wouldn't necessarily make it as a full news post. DoctorFinger plans on doing it once every day if there are news bits for it.

It's kind of a bad price, but it's not much worse than Demigod (I think it had 8 maps for $40?).

I may pick it up IF it has squads working not like they do in Bad Company and put in some satisfactory shooting. I never felt satisfied using a gun in a DICE game, they always felt... lame, even with loud sounds and bass.

Wow, Velvet Assassin just sorta' snuck up on us, didn't it. Not sure if the lack of press is a good or a bad thing.

Damn you Dice. Treating PC gamers, your bread and fucking butter, the people who made the Battlefield series a hit, like second class citizens.

As long as we're predicting headlines.

And holy shit I've been thinking a lot about Velvet Assassin lately, fuck yeah that it's gone gold. I was actually thinking of...gulp...buying this one. For some reason I thought it was open-world, but it ain't so it's a rental for me.

Velvet Assassin definitely snuck up on us. The last thing I had ever heard about it was the character model/voice actress in the booth at PAX.
