Dante's Inferno Gets DTV Animated Flick

You may want to grab a compass, since this story follows a rather circuitous path. It was announced today that Electronic Arts and Film Roman will be producing a direct-to-video animated prequel for the upcoming Dante's Inferno. The same studio produced the Dead Space prequel flick, Downfall. Like that effort this OVA is expected to ship around the release of the game. One interesting little tidbit about this production: each of the nine levels of hell will be produced by a separate animation studio. This is similar to how Warner Bros' OVAs Gotham Knight and the Animatrix, produced to support the Dark Knight and Matrix Reloaded respectively.

For the record, this means they're producing an OVA based on a game, (the film rights to which were sold before the game was announced), based on the classic epic poem.

Thousands of tweenage boys will ask for The Divine Comedy for their birthdays and for Christmas, only to discover that Dante doesn't fight a single thing... And that the layer for Lust is rather boring.
