Starting a Metallica thread is like starting a Halo thread. Some hater will inevitably come in and tell the world how much they suck.

Anyways, I like me some Metallica, and after playing the demo for GH: Metallica... I might just pick that bad boy up.

I'll be there. I've never seen Metallica before! I think I need to see them at least once.

I saw James Hetfield catch fire. I think I've seen enough Metallica in my lifetime.
Besides, tickets were 30$ back then, and we thought it was expensive.

That kicked all kinds of ass, right up until Kirk had a solo and didn't play all of it. Not only did he not play all of it but the parts that he DID play sucked. *Sigh* I guess there comes a point in your career where you just don't give a fuck anymore. The only one that I actually have respect for in Metallica is Hetfield, he sounded great and his rhythm guitar playing is as good as ever.

Kirk's live solos except for Master of Puppets, Enter Sandman and Seek and Destroy have all started to sound kind of samey. Except for those 3 because the solos in those 3 are so well known by now. He's still good and still has that signature sound he's always had but not as good as he used to be.

If you watch Exodus play Seek and Destroy, Gary Holt says "hey Kirk, this is how you're supposed to play your solos!" and then he shreds like no tomorrow and just owns the shit outta Kirk. Which is funny because I have an audio file of Exodus playing in 83 where both Kirk and Gary play solos and Kirk's is WAY better than Gary's. Like I said, fame ruined Metallica 'cause they don't need to prove anything anymore.

I wouldn't say it ruined them, they still put on a kick ass show and even their experimental stuff (Load, Reload, St. Anger) has a certain appeal to it. I do agree they don't have much left to prove anymore but they are still one of the best metal acts out there.

Last round of US dates the pit was at ~$75 + ticketmaster fees.

edit : fees made it $92

I've always said that I need to see Metallica before those bastards retire or die. Those Texas dates are looking mighty tempting. I'll be completely done with school at that time, so it's perfect.

You are a little late I think....I searched ticketmaster on both TX dates and neither gave me tickets. Looks like both are sell outs. They haven't even announced an opening act yet.

Anyone who has never seen them live before owes it to themselves to go to one of those shows.
I saw them at Wembley back in 2007 and they were absolutely amazing. The supporting bands sucked ass though (Him, Mastodon and Bullet for my Valentine).

The trip ended up costing way more that it should have because we missed our train home and had to book a hotel as well as buying a new train ticket each. It ended up costing us about £350 each, but I'd totally do it again.

Edit: I'm also disappointed that their Nimes show is sold out. There aren't many good reasons to go to France, but that would have been one of them.

I actually would love to go see them. I guess Minneapolis would be the closest for where I'm at currently.
