Bioshock 2 Teaser Site Up

It's up and it's running. Little information to be had at the moment but that should surely change soon enough.

What we do know:

On March 11, 2008, Take Two Interactive officially announced that Bioshock 2 is being developed by 2K Marin, and is expected to be released before the 2009 Christmas holiday season. In an August 2008 interview, Ken Levine mentioned that 2K Boston was not involved in the game's sequel because they wanted to "swing for the fences" and try to come up with something "very, very different." BioShock 3 has also been announced, with its release likely to coincide with the Bioshock film. The first information about BioShock's immediate sequel came in a teaser on the PlayStation 3 version of the game revealing that the second game is to be titled BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams. This teaser used The Pied Pipers' version of "Dream" in much the same way that the first BioShock's soundtrack used Great American Songbook tunes. A 2K developer stated that the game "is part of a prequel and at the same time is a sequel." BioShock 2 is planned to be released for Windows PC, Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3 in 2009.

Huge fan of the first though I can't help but think of Elvis.

Color me intrigued. What's with the date? 2/20/67. Isn't this suppose to be a prequel?

Nice. I loved what I played of the first, but got distracted by something else somehow. I need to start that over soon.

I've never really enjoyed teaser sites, but that was actually rather intriguing. Can't wait.

I'm not someone at work killing the last few hours before I get to go home, so I'm not going to bother to figure out what, if anything, the teaser site is revealing.

Joystiq or Kotaku made a comment about it being both prequel and sequel... My guess would be that you play as a psychic in the 60s trying to figure what has happened with the girl (which may lead you to Rapture) and that there are playable flashbacks to someone who lived in pre-BioShock Rapture. So you gain insight into what happened before the original while exploring something that is occuring after the fact. Weren't there one or two psychic flashes in the original? I remember them specifically because they were out of place and the idea wasn't really explored.

So they just released a teaser site for Bioshock 2, and already they're pimping Bioshock 3 and a movie? The game was cool. It wasn't that cool, imo.

This is where I confess that while I played the hell out of Bioshock, I never actually completed the game. I continuously tell myself I am going back to finish it, but it never happens.

That said, I look forward to Bioshock 2 once I get around to finishing the first. There is breadth enough to make it work, I just hope they do not screw it up.

They will never hit that magic moment with Ryan again. Although I would like to think so. I just hope the story is up to the standard of 1.

I'm in the same boat. I even own two copies of the game now, one for PC and one for 360.

The 360 version cost me $60, and the PC version cost me $5. :/
