Sam & Max Headed XBLA & Retail

Xbox Live is about to get funnier. Why? Because Sam & Max are heading it's way. The first two seasons of the hilariously funny adventure games are slated for digital release on XBLA, as well as retail releases on the PC and Wii.

For these new releases, the complete first season of Sam & Max will be renamed Sam & Max Save the World, with the second season now dubbed Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space. And best of all, rather than having to wait for each episode, you'll be able to play each season in it's entirety right off the bat.

No release dates have been given yet for the games, but developer Telltale Games describes Sam & Max Save the World as "coming soon".

Nice. I picked up the first season for the Wii when it came out. I was hoping that the same would happen for season 2. Now if only Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People had a boxed release, I would be pleased as punch. (Sure, I know it's on WiiWare, but I'm strapped for space and like disc versions.)

Excellent. The 360's my console of choice, and the Sam and Max episodes are lots of fun.

This is awesome news. Hopefully they get these out to PSN users and we can all start putting this point and click ship on full steam again.

I'm thinking of picking up Season 1 on the Wii. Any input on how that version holds up compared to the others?

Only played on the PC myself. I will say that the controls of the Wii seem like the superior choice on consoles. God I never thought I'd say that.

About damn time. I've been waiting for it to come to XBLA. I have thought of Steaming it though. I'll have to see the better deal, but my hunch is that the Steam pack will probably be the best bet.

I read in some reviews that it's technically disappointing. The framerate stutters, and lines of dialogue get cut off.

Haha, I understand what you mean. It's almost...dirty.

I'd rather get the retail package, but for now I'm handcuffed to XBLA. If it's priced right, I'll get it. If not, fuck 'em.

I'll grab the boxed Wii version sometime, I like adventure games and I've never played Sam & Max.

For shame! These are amazing updates to a classic adventure game, and you should turn in your gaming badge immediately!

....hold on.....oh yeah, I never played any of them.

I did hear a few jokes from the original repeated by a mouth breather in 9th grade Art class. Perhaps that shmo is why I never gave these games a 2nd glance. So, should these be placed high up in my queue, or can I keep putting it off?

Why don't you just get it on PC? There's no need to be "tied" to XBLA for these games. Both seasons have been on Steam for ages now. I have the first one and it is a lot of fun.

I really can't see them selling an entire season for 800 points.

I played the first season, and wasn't a fan. Too much recycled characters and locations, too safe comedy, too easy puzzles, and a lack of the hilarious small background details that I loved in the comics and original game. I also didn't like the minigames they shoehorn in.

I think because his PC is ancient and/or it's easier to game on his 360 if I remember correctly from other threads that Kelegacy has commented on his PC gaming.

I know his PC isn't up to date, but these games are not exactly impressive graphically. They look nice, but they don't exactly push any boundaries.
