Dead Rising 2 Announced

Capcom has officially taken the wraps off of the long awaited sequel to Dead Rising.

Dead Rising 2 takes place several years after the Willamette incident, and zombie outbreaks are now taking place across the nation. This game is set in the fictional Fortune City, where you should expect to encounter a whole host of new weapons with which to take on the zombie hordes.

Developed by Canadian studio Blue Castle Games, Dead Rising 2 is slated for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC platforms.

Hell yeah! Casinos?! It's the perfect way to one-up the mall setting. You get the same stories, prettier enviornments, and new types of rooms/levels.

Awesome.

I'm tentatively excited...but if Capcom repeats the errors they made with the first, it will be disappointing.

Who? They have done The Bigs and Front Office Manager? Uh, I hope they can pull this off. As long as there is co-op I will be happy, they could even add co-op to the first game and re-release it and I would be good.

Huge fan of the first one.

If they can minimize the load time and cut scenes I think this will be a great sequel. Plus they need to have fewer cell phone calls from guys who get pissed off when you hang up on them because you have 20 zombies trying to kill you.

I never got around to the first one mostly because of the complaints I kept hearing from everyone. Well, that and a lack of time. If those are fixed, I could see picking this up cheap, but it doesn't look like the kind of game I'd rush out to get.

Trying to remember the save points...didn't you have to go to sleep in the main office or something? So it takes like an hour to get to the save point.

All the bathrooms were save points, there was at one in almost every wing of the mall.

Or in any of the bathrooms once you got to the additional mall sections.

Sweet, looking forward to this!

As for the first one, the only thing that really bugged me was Otis. I would have fed him to the zombies had i had the chance. Didn't really mind the savepoints system, it took a little getting used to, but once you learned where they were it was that big of a deal imo.

Wooo, Canadia!

Weird, thought DR2 was being made by a Mexican studio last I heard.

Whoohoo! Casino's huh? I wonder if the outdoor sections will be the town that links different casinos together. Either way I can't wait. And I hope they learn some lessons from the first game and fix the things that sucked(like Otis).

Wow...I do NOT like the look of the character. I am not even sure why, I was not a huge fan of Frank or anything, but that guy just has a 90's 'xtreme' look about him.
But that won't stop me from checking this out. The first was so much fun.

If the game retains the cool aspects of the original, you'll be able to find a different outfit for him. So that complaint would soon be fixed by you slapping new duds on the guy. Problem solved.

Screenshots? Those are definitely not screenshots. Possibly artistic renderings in the style of the game, or heavily modified bullshots, but not screenshots.
