Just When I Thought I Was Safe

My 360 red ringed. Damnit!
But after 4 tries it turned back on again. Is it still doomed? Is it time to order a box?

I'd order a coffin. It's free and you can just hold on to it for up to a month (I think) if it keeps struggling along.

Order a box and get it sent back now. You don't want it to limp on for another few weeks than crash out for good when all the big releases come out.

When my launch system died I found someone to buy the refurbished one for $100 and grabbed an Elite for myself. It's been my only failure thus far, but I'm sure it'll die any day now.

Take the advice and order a box, you can just never be too safe in this situation.

Currently on number six, knock on wood, though I have an extended warranty that I renewed less than a month ago, and that lasts for two years. Yay.

Now would be the best time to get it replaced. Not only do you want it back before all the awesome games coming out next week, but with everyone playing their 360 this fall they are bound to get bottle necked with red ringed systems. My first one took nearly a month to get back, but the second time it only took 2 weeks.

If I send it in even though it will start now, will they still fix it up? I'd like to have it back in time for Left 4 Dead and Mirror's Edge. But if I wait till it dies, I might not get it till way late November/December. I can live without it in October, but I don't want to wait out on some of those games.

Yes, red rings aren't always reproducible. Just make sure you tell them it's showing the red rings when you call.

I had red rings once on my box a few months after I got it. I turned it off and on again and it started fine, so I decided to just keep playing on it and hope nothing further happened. It's been a year and nothing has.

So you might want to be safe rather than sorry, but this could be nothing.

Get the coffin, and try and induce 3-ring again. Mine did it once, then was good for a couple days, then I managed to get it constantly while the box was on the way.
