Another week, another weekly roundup.
Like the previous week, this past week has been pretty uneventful given that we're in the midst of Holiday festivities (mostly involving alcoholic beverages and stained bedding), so without further ado, let's get to it. Carrying on from earlier reports that Free Radical Design was all but extinct, further images related to the unreleased TimeSplitters 4 and Battlefront 3 made their way onto the internet. Moving on from there, our pals at Co-Optimus published two great articles: the official Co-Optimus Game of the Year Awards and Co-Op Classics, an entry into an ongoing series over at Co-Optimus that looks at cooperative gaming classics - this one the rather beloved Dungeons and Dragons arcade game. Speaking of CoG's pals, the gents over at Immortal Machines relaunched their podcast! In the week's most surprising and talked about turn of events, the Wall Street Journal (staffed by actual journalists) ran an article entitled Hope Fades for PS3 as a Comeback Player. Opinions on the state and future of the PlayStation 3 are as varied as the species of bugs discovered so far, so make sure you add your tuppence-worth if you haven't already done so. While you're at it, have a gander at this. Did Sony's Cell R&D fund inadvertenly assist Microsoft with the processor they eventually used in the Xbox 360? Hands up if you own a Zune. Cool. Now, hands up if the Zune you own happens to be of the 30GB variety. Ah. Remember December 31, 2008? You know, The Day those Zunes Stood Still. I was among the many who had planned to use Microsoft's digital wonder to supply the "choons" for my New Year's activities. Sadly it wasn't to be as Microsoft engineers discovered a rather bizarre firmware bug that froze all 30GB Zunes for approximately 24 hours due to 2008 being a leap year. I guess that fact must have sneaked up on those otherwise savvy developers. By all accounts, the majority of the players are now working just fine, but Microsoft has so far not committed to resolving the issue for 2012. And that's about it. As I said, a quiet week... I'll bet none of you have done any laundry this weekend. Mucky pups! |
