Echoes of Time Special Edition DSi and Crystal Bearers Trailer

If you're looking for a reason to buy the upcoming DS upgrade, the Nintendo DSi, this may or may not convince you. Nintendo has teamed up with Square Enix to create the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time special edition DSi. Along with this came word that both the Wii and DS versions of Echoes of Time will contain a CD called the FFCC Sound Selection, featuring music from the series.

In addition, Square Enix has also announced that the Wii version of Echoes of Time will include a new trailer for the upcoming Wii-exclusive Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: the Crystal Bearers (the project that was previously thought dead, a long-running rumor that Square Enix has finally denied).

I don't really want a DSi but damn, that looks nice. I do need a new DS though. It's been through quite alot and the touchscreen is starting to go.

Very nice.

I'm going to be picking up a Nintendo DSi when they come out here. I use mine all the time. The prospect of bigger and brighter screens in the same-sized package and exclusive software is too much to resist. Everything else like cameras, audio playback and such is simply gravy.

I like the matte black. Shiny-black never sits well with me, as it is nothing more than a fingerprint magnet.

I'm curious what the web browser is gonna be like. I have half a mind to make custom web apps for the DSi, just cause it is so small and streamlined as a platform I think a little effort could go a long way.

DSi looks nice, but I won't touch it until they fix the battery issues. Oh right, and it screwed over my GBA slot. So...yeah. That said, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: the Crystal Bearers could be good.

I'm always up for a new handheld. But what exclusive content? Maybe i've seen it and nothing for me yet. I am waiting on this one since I don't think there is anything coming out for it yet. Bigger screen and better graphics is enticing though.

Everything downloadable on DSWare, the portable version of WiiWare, will be exclusive to the DSi. For example, there is a Made in Wario game coming that lets you make your own micro games using the camera to take photos and the touch-screen to edit sprites / interactions.

I'm a huge fan of digital distribution as well. If I can buy a few games online, and keep them on an SD card, it would increase the number of games I can take with me at all times, and reduce the number of cartridges I have to juggle.

Ah well. I thought it may have been updated since it has been MONTHS since the Opera came out.

Well downloadable content will eventually sell me one then. Besides, I was looking in the recent Nintendo Power and they had a preview of the system. Looking at it of course i'm thinking, yeah maybe I do want one. I have no will power. But I do have a question about the wifi of the DSI. Is it going to be WEP again? I have an Apple router that isn't compatible with my DS now. And the dongle...well it hates Vista...so if I can't download, no sense in getting one quickly.

I have no idea what the WiFi security is like. You should be able to enter the MAC address of your DS into your router's DMZ, thereby granting your DS a free pass to the WiFi point.

If that does not help, I blame Apple.

I haven't tried that yet. Thanks!

JayVe, Purple Santa: This was taken from Vooks.

Quote:
Speaking of Wi-Fi, while the DSi menu, Shop and Browser can all connect via the updated WPA security, all older games will still use the original WEP settings – this is due to the Wi-Fi connection software actually being implemented per card rather than on the system.

As always Avnovice...you are the best. Thanks. I'm going to solve my issues with my DS connection. But i'm tempted by this. If nothing else, if I can find one at a non-bundle price i'll hold onto to it to give to ADD for a birthday present.
