That's your wife canceling any ordering from Steam or other game sites while your basement is being paid off .

It's really bad now...I now have PC games on my to buy list...i'm keeping that list hidden from ADDGirl...

Just make sure that one of those games is Civ 4.

Feel free to add Sins of a Solar Empire as well.

Two tips:
Beware the sea dragons (giant mutated seahorses) and start learning cooking recipes asap.
You might not need the food you can make at first, but they'll save your ass many times later on, especially the higher level recipes.

How in the world do you cook underwater?

I guess I just need to play the game and find out.

You learn pretty early on. Your "home base" has a cooking stove where you can mix and try out new combinations of things you've picked up.

And no...I have no idea how that works underwater.

You don't "cook" meals, you "prepare" them.

I have never heard of this, but I am digging the art style and the concept (and yeah, that banner alone makes one intrigued for sure). Watched the trailer.... definitely must play this. Not until after Chrismas.

Crap. Of course, Steam is finally working today and that's when the Strong Bad Season 1 stuff hit. So much for getting one game. $60 later... (Got iFluid too).

On a sad note, my computer sucks. I need to upgrade it stat. I mean, iFluid makes it struggle...

I've heard pretty terrible things about I-fluid.

Was about to pick it up the other day but then was told it was horrendously and unplayably buggy and just not that fun or interesting when it actually was working.

Aquaria is definitely cool, though.

The magic spells remind me of Ocarina of Time, which is of course a good thing.

Let me know what you think of I Fluid and Strongbad.

Really? I played for a while the weekend before last and I never hit a bug. I actually did get stuck and had to restart a level, but that opened happened once and seemed like a fluke. I had a lot of fun with the first four levels, especially for only $10.

If enough CoGers think otherwise I'll give it a go, especially at the price it's at, as you say.

I just haven't heard anything positive about it at ALL outside of your impressions, so I'm wary.

I'm going to spend more time with it this weekend, so my impression could change. I had fun with the first few levels though.

My only complaint is that the water droplet (your "character") moves a little too imprecisely, or too quickly.

I liked the first level of iFluid. For $10, it's worth fiddling with. It had a kind of Katamari vibe going for it. I'm going to take Strongbad for a spin tonight. Oh, and I LOVE Aquaria.

The first level of I Fluid is very simple. They ratchet things up from there. Just wait until you are dodging chocolate and performing daring leaps over hot cakes!

Oh, I understand it is simple. I just liked what I played. It's an interesting concept and it was fun to dodge an avalanche of paperclips.

Oh, by the way, Aquaria is just phenomenal. Holy cow. I've played full-priced games with far less polish than this. I think 2009 is going to be the year where I limit myself to nothing over $30...

And Maggie, Strong Bad is great... if you're a fan of Strong Bad and the H*R world. I had many laugh out loud moments in just the tutorial, not to mention the beginning of the first episode. It's kind of strange though. H*R and StrongBad look fine but the other characters just look odd as 3D versions of themselves. Not bad, just odd...

And the fact that there is a whole minigame around the creation of a Teen Girl Squad comic is awesome.

I can't wait to get my hands on Aquaria. I'm right there with you as far as lower priced games go. I've spent a lot of time this year with games that I got for a great price. Paying $60 for a game just seems silly when there are so many great budget titles out there. I've bought a lot of games on Steam this year for <20.

I watched some Strongbad a few years ago, but it's been so long that I'm not sure I would "get" the humor of the games. I'll probably pick up the season after I wrap up Sam & Max 1 and 2.
