Brütal Legend Lives!

Some news just puts a smile on my face. This news made me break out in a full on grin. Brütal Legend, Double Fine studio's third person rock opera, has finally found a publisher in Electronic Arts.

Brütal Legend had previously been attached to Sierra, a division of Vivendi Interactive. When VI merged with Activision, Brütal Legend was one of a number of games which found themselves without publishers. In the intervening months just about every one of those title had found a home, except for Brütal Legend. That is, until today.

For those who don't remember, Brütal Legend is the story of Eddie Riggs (voiced by Jack Black), the ultimate roadie who finds himself transported to a magical world immersed in Rock and Roll folklore. Along the way you'll swing your axe with, and against, characters inspired or voiced by some real rock legends, including Lemmy from Motorhead and Rob Halford. It will be the most brutal, the most metal game ever.

Brütal Legend is slated for release in Q3 2009 on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Seriously, what the fuck? Activision turns into a sequel-machine, and EA is pumping out new IP like their lives depend on it.

It's like Bizzarro World out here.

Ah, EA... I'll echo the pernguin's sentiment and say that they are easily publisher of the year.

My only concern? Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.

I won't say EA is publisher of the year. They have too much to make up for, beginning with ShittyROM.

Now, if they also release Brütal for the PC, they could gain some good will.

Giving the punt to Riccittiello would be nice, too.

Hopefully somebody will put that shit online, because I don't really feel like watching the awards. Something tells me that trailer will be Jack Black's favorite part of the show.

I just watched the old CG trailer, and it starts up with the Sierra logo. Even back when the game was under them, it didn't feel like a right fit. For some reason, EA feels right. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Hell sure is cold tonight.

I'm sure GT will have it up almost immediately like they do with their other Spike shows.
