Blue Dragon Plus

A preview from IGN. According to them, the game will hit the states on February 24, 2009.

Quote:
There's a also a huge emphasis on the character special attacks, with the obvious one being Shu's dragon shadow, which from the very beginning has the ability to pull off both flame and water sword attacks. Marumaro also has a counter attack and ground blow, Zola has wind claw, and Szabo – the lovable robot – has two gems, Amethyst, and Emerald, which both yield pretty big attacks. Each power fits within a specific elemental type, as does each enemy, and before casting players can see which enemies are weak, strong, or indifferent to the attack. After each successful battle, characters level up, and learn new attacks.
Quote:
Everything else works in a pretty familiar Children of Mana feel, with the ability to tap to select specific unites, grab everyone on the field at once with an "All" selection tab found on the right side of the bottom screen, and a more refined group-select tool, which actual freezes time, allowing you to grab exactly who you want, and take as much time as needed. This time-stop also occurs when selecting special attacks, so you've got all the time needed to determine which dragon shadow or magic attack to use on what character.
I like how they compare Blue Dragon Plus to Children of Mana, when it's Heroes of Mana that was the real-time strategy game.

You tell 'em, Avnovice!

As long as Blue Dragon Plus builds on Heroes, it could be pretty good.

Man, if this were a traditional RPG, I'd probably consider picking it up. Over the course of the 360 game, I did come to like the characters (but it is really the world itself that is so great). However, I have no use for a SRPG. Those things are time sinks.

I really liked the gameplay of the original--the story and characters not so much--so I think I'll try this out before I buy if it is such a departure. Still, it's nice to see this released stateside.

I hate you Variable. You're all out to get me. YOU'RE ALL OUT TO GET ME!

That said, I could see what they were trying to do with Heroes Of Mana but it really failed utterly in execution. I did enjoy the way FFXII: Revenant Wings played though. That was a much better realization of RTS on the DS than Heroes of Mana.

Sigh. If this is what you're saying it is, I'd be willing to try it. NOT BUY IT, but I'll try it.

Thou doth protest to much.

You clearly are a secret Blue Dragon Lover.

I think you secretly sneak out of bed in the middle of the night, don your Shu costume, and sodomize your MaruMaru Doll to the rhythm of the Blue Dragon Robo Town theme.

The only trailer I want to see for this game is the one containing the world's entire stock of this game on fire....

But seriously, those battles look very much like the ones in Revenant Wings... and that's not a bad thing...
