HL2 Mod Night?

I had a thought last night, while staring at my list of Source mods in Steam, and realizing how many of them I never actually get to play.

What if we set up some kind of mod night for HL2 mods? Just about damn everyone has the game, and for those that don't, most of us that do probably still have gift copies that could be passed about. The mods themselves are free, we'd just have to make sure to give plenty of advance notice as to what mod would be played on any given night so that they could be ready to go come gametime.

It'd just be nice to finally be able to play some of the great mods like Fistful of Frags or Eternal Silence, since there never seem to be any damn servers up for the games.

I would be up for this. I just noticed yesterday that there are a ton of interesting looking mods out...

Though, this may have to wait until the Left4Dead hype dies down a little.

I'd be in for stuff like this, since I missed out on the whole hype when it first came out. Lack of a good computer cuts you deep.

Having spent much of the weekend in SMOD Redux V6, I'd say this is a great idea.

If we get at least a day's notice on the mod, I'll be up for this (it takes time for me to download them).

We have, on occasion, tried this before. Dystopia and Day of Defeat were hits. But given how tough it is to set up a stable server on the third party mods like Insurgency, it can get spotty. The next major step I want to see valve take is to get better server tools out to mod makers. I have never been able to get any of the command line based ones to work right in XP.

There's a small chance I'll have L4D within the week, but anyway, yeah, you're right.
