Madballs In Babo:Invasion (XBLA/PC)

I don't know if anyone here remembers Madballs from the 80's (MEMORRIESSS), but even if you aren't familiar with them, you'll probably want to take a gander at this new title coming to Xbox Live Arcade and PC's this summer. Madballs in Babo: Invasion is a fast paced multi-player 3D action game featuring team play, 2-16 player online multi-player, and co-op.

Playbrains partnered with American Greetings Properties, who recently re-launched the 80s classic Madballs toy and entertainment brand, to develop the game featuring the hilariously grotesque Madballs characters. In the game, two Madballs characters crash land on a planet in the middle of a civil war between the peaceful Babos and chaotic Scorched forces and join the fray. The game features a dozen characters, each with special abilities, fighting with many different weapons across multiple landscapes. There is a deep single-player campaign and many different co-op and multiplayer modes of gameplay.

Edit: as far as gameplay goes, it looks like a poor man's Assault Heroes

We were just talking about Madballs in the Toys thread and now they're front page in a different story about their own game?

Is this the bizarro internets? I'm holding out for a Garbage Pail Kids MMO.

I loved Madballs, but this has got to be one of the most random tie-ins I've ever seen in a video game. EVER!

I almost wish this kind of thing wouldn't come back though. The memories are great, but everything brought back from my childhood has been completely bastardized.

Ah man, I loved Madballs; I had Horn Head, Dustbrain, and Oculus Orbus, and also head-launching bodies (with heads) for Horn Head and another (I think Dustbrain,) along with the motorcycle-like toy...

But I'm kinda with Mags... Leave some things alone for crying out loud. Next thing you know, we'll get a My Pet Monster game.

I had the head launching ones too. They were actually pretty awesome and packed quite the punch if you fired them at people.

Don't know if they ever made one, but I'd love an old school Battle Beast game.

Visionaries could also make a fairly fantastic action beat-em up as well.

Battle Beasts' fire/water/wood mechanic could make for an absolutely excellent multiplayer game with serious cash behind it, imo. Three teams of eight in a 3d action game with the play speed of say, larger Halo 3 maps. Each team can dominate one other team, but be dominated by the third... Losing your base means your team no longer respawns, and to win you have to eradicate all of your opponents... That's it. I'm going to tap a programming pal and look into this.
