Spelunky Hitting XBLA July 4
The XBLA version of the wonderfully fun Spelunky has a release date: July 4. If you haven't played it before - the original was released on the PC back in 2008, and developer Mossmouth has been working on the XBLA port ever since - you can give it a try for free here. It's sort of like a platforming rogue-like; randomly generated levels filled with enemies and items. The XBLA version comes with enhanced graphics and sound, but also adds co-op and deathmatch multiplayer modes. It will cost 1200 MSP/$15. via Joystiq |

I... was just coming over here to post this. Dammit Doc! You're too fast for me!
And Not on 3DS as far as I've ever heard, Mags. This is an updated version of the ol PC classic with new stuff, new secrets, and multiplayer. |

Maybe you're thinking of Cave Story? That's on the 3DS.

I freakin' love Spelunky. I don't have an XBox, but would support it if the new version comes out on PC.

I had never heard of the original, and now I really wish I never had. Those pixel graphics look amazing!! No word of a way to toggle them on the XBLA version? :|

Looks a lot like Terraria, tho I guess minus the building part.

It has more in common with Rogue-likes. The levels that are generated are not meant to be persistent and don't form a cohesive world. They're small and meant to be explored quickly before moving on to the next area. You play a single game and the next time you play the areas are randomly generated again.

So true. I'd probably buy it both places, though.

Definitely getting this, the original PC game is so addictive. Hell, I'd buy it just as a donation for all the fun the free version has given me.
