First Teaser is out:

As with all major blockbuster trailers of late, it features loud banging noises and random snippettes of shit happening. But holy shot Ralph Fienes.

I love Craig as Bond. He's brutal and doesn't hold back. I just hope there isn't another four hour card game overly narrated by a Frenchman in this one.

The card game in Casino Royale was the centerpiece of the novel and honestly, I thought they handled it really well.
What I didn't much care for was the revenge story angle that they put on Vesper's story. The novel ends with "The bitch is dead" and it just shows how cold bond really is. QoS' primary problem was that it's premise was based on a motive that Bond never had, revenge. That being said, I still enjoyed the continuation of this take on Bond.
Here's hoping that they can bring back the magic they had for Casino Royale.

I actually am kind of hoping they go back and modernize some of the other novels. With the kind of success Casino Royale had, there were other Bond novels that were just ruined in the movie version that could really enjoy a modern take.

It wasn't so much the card game itself but the narration. "Look, it's the tell!" I really, really hated that. lol

The trailer itself was alright, nothing special. However I am super excited for this. I love Bond, I love Craig as Bond, and this has a great supporting cast as well.

Looks good. After Connery, Craig is my favorite Bond.

I never really cared for Bond until Craig came along. I've enjoyed his Bond films so far, and I look forward to seeing this one.

I should watch some of the older ones sometime, like the Connery films.

I just recently rewatched CR and QoS. I always enjoyed CR and even QoS wasn't as bad as I recalled.

I rather like Craig as Bond, and it'll be interesting to see Q return in the more gritty serious bond.

This is one of those movies that I'm so excited about that I won't even watch a trailer.

Definitely digging this. So excited.

At first when they were talking up Javier Bardem's character and they first showed him I thought he might be Blofeld. I'm glad he isn't, but they way they seemed to be rebooting other things (PPK, Q, etc.) I was thinking they might go all the way, maybe make him the leader (or at least a member of) Quantum.

If you're open to suggestion, I'd say go for From Russia with Love, at the very least. It's one that can really be taken outside of the Bond franchise and - along with North by Northwest, if you're into the genre - is one of my favorite films.

Thought the book was pretty decent, as well.

Which genre is that? The "Men almost being run over by aircraft" genre?

I kid, I kid... From Russia with Love is my favorite classic Bond movie as well. Kind of a purist spy movie, before Bond got super into gadgets and camp (although I enjoy those movies too, but they play out much differently). In fact, I've got the poster on my wall (sorry for shitty watermarked version, all I could find quickly at work):

If I were to suggest the cream of the crop of pre-Craig Bond films, I'd say (in chronological order):

From Russia with Love
The Spy Who Loved Me
License To Kill
Goldeneye

I also personally like Lazenby in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, but I realize I'm in a small minority there.

Loved everything about it except the train scene. When the train gets ripped apart and he jumps on to it, and then straightens his suit. I dunno, it harkens back to the corniness of Bond that I've never been a fan of (breaks the suspension of disbelief). I like Craig's Bond, because it's brutal and confident without feeling hokey, so I hope they keep it that way.

The Connery movies are only good if you compare them to Roger Moore movies.
