You have the right idea. You are selling yourself. That's the first right step. We did have a thread on resume writing and cover letter writing. It was a great thread if you can find it in the Lounge.

I was out of work for a year looking so I feel your pain. I must of revised my cover letter dozens of times. What did help was the "unique" cover letter Ox did in the thread. It was done purely for "fun" (the job was for drug smuggling or experience as a smuggler) but the form was dead on. I actually used the verbiage from the letter and told Ox if I got a job I owed him a beer because I used so much of it. I'm sure I still have it. I'll shoot you a copy when I find it.

Well "mid-1945" would only be June. The bombs were dropped in August. So in this light, his room might not look to bad

Edit: JRR, I did find it. PM has been sent.

YW. Always like to help.

If you get a job we are going to have to start sending Ox royalties for that cv letter.

Moved my PC today and my speakers have a crackling to them now. Even when turned down to mute. Whenever they are plugged in and on they have the constant static sound. It's faint but is driving me nuts.

I haven't noticed it before. Maybe my PC was too loud but I doubt it. This is noticeable. I must have wiggled some wire or internals. These PC speakers are 10 years old, though they are still awesome and have a great subwoofer. They did make this crackling sound before on my old PC, so I'm sure it's the speakers themselves. But hadn't noticed it when I hooked them up to my new PC for nigh on 3 weeks. Sigh. I am so dumb and never should have moved the desk.

Anyone have any recommendations for good speakers for a cheap price? I'm talking small sub and to speakers only. Something I can fit under the desk easily. I am leery about buying new speakers because these little things were great for being Gateway speakers. Sub is very slim too, but it puts out some serious bass. I am worried I won't get any as good as these for a cheap price.

I've looked on Amazon and might try something out. The subs I've seen are pretty boxy though, and I don't know if I'll be able to fit some of them according to my current set up. Maybe those Bose ones so I don't need a sub?

Can you plugin an ipod or something to the speakers to test them? I'm always so reluctant to give up on trusty old hardware without running some experiments to figure out exactly what the problem is.

Even 59.99 Logitech 2.1's will do you VERY well. 2 speakers and a nice sub.

Mid covers June, July & August

It's tidy now. Not clean, but tidy. Next weekend will be an intense purge/decontamination effort.

I have a nice pair of Altec-Lansings. It's a 2.1 system and gives me decent sound when I don't use the headphones. I would LOVE to actually wire my PC into a proper set of speakers, but given the nature of of my set-up and the fact that half the time I'm using headphones anyway, there's no real point.

I tried Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack! on the Vita tonight. That is one pretty fun game. Think of it like a 2D Katamari platformer. Me likey.

Be careful with those Logitech 2.1s. I have a set and I find them to be pretty lackluster. Cabling layout is stupid, the subwoofer is too loud, and you can't run the system without the sub.

I keep on intending to replace them with my old Altec Lansing 2.0s, which were awesome, but I'm lazy.

Big paper = done. Last paper: incoming. Already have many good sources bookmarked, so research is 90% done. Making the rest should take 1-2 days. If i keep up the current pace, I'll be finishing up this weekend.

Thank fucking god. Gonna graduate.

Looks at wife's speakers.
Specs are pro form, sound is rated at 8.2, cabling is standard 2.1 industry standerd withshielded sub cabling, sub can be turned down to 0 for no output.

Do you have a sound card or are you using onboard sound? I had buzzing before I had to replace my motherboard, which resulted in no space for a sound card. Buzzing stopped as soon as I started using onboard sound.

Oh, they are older speakers. I'm sure Logitech has improved their shit since I got my set, I'm just advising him to be careful.
