As I've said elsewhere, I'm a Nintendo gamer first and foremost, so I will get this system pretty much ASAP. Pikmin alone will do the trick. Even with the plethora of disappointments that came with Wii, I still played that thing more than I played my 360 or my PS3.
That said, I have a hard time caring at all about another New Super Mario Bros. game. I didn't ever even finish the last one. |

I'd love a new Animal Crossing, but I feel that with this series, probably more than any other Nintendo franchise, I've pretty much played them all after the first one.

Like many others, I've always bought Nintendo systems at launch but this is the first one I'm hesitant about.
I know I'm going to want it but right now it doesn't seem like a good idea. I just hate the tablet controller so much. I'm waiting to see software and a price before my decision is made. |

I bought the New Super Mario Bros game on the DS, and it kicked my ass. I thought there was something wrong with me. I do still like side-scrolling Mario much more than 3d Mario, so I'd like to see more of that on the WiiU.

I had an absolute blast with the first Animal Crossing, but a lot of that had to do with place and time. I was in the dorm, and had about 8 different people playing the game split across two different Memory cards and towns. People were hanging out in my room all the time to play. I was the belle of the ball.

Personally, I'm really looking forward to the tablet controller. I love the new colors app for the 3DS, and hope to see something equally creative on the WiiU.

I had a lot of fun with the one on the Gamecube back in the day. I'm not sure that a new one would pull me in nearly as much, but it would be nice to see them do something other than minor tweaks to the original N64 version over and over again.

I honestly think Animal Crossing is Nintendo's most creative game period. I just think they really blew it by not finding new forms of interaction and expanding the social aspects.

Nintendo is this weird machine which spontaneously produces brilliant ideas, but is wary of taking risks once something is an established hit.

I enjoyed Animal Crossing and also Wide World. I do think it sucks that they got cheap after the first one, and stopped putting the NES games in. That was a really cool feature. At this point, they need to do something with that franchise other than just more content.
It's almost like a version of Farmville that doesn't blow ass.

Also, Metroid: Other M was a large departure. It was also basically bad. |

Disagree. The cut-scenes, story, and voice acting were god-awful but the actual Metroid part of Other M was a lot of fun. Sure, it had a wonky control scheme, and the turret part wasn't very well thought out, but aside from that it felt very much like an extension of Super Metroid.

I'll take that a step further - all of the things that were unknowns about the game going in, the parts of the game that were essentially NEW to the franchise, were all largely failures.
I still enjoyed the game quite a bit. |

I have only liked the portable versions. Living in San Francisco I took the street cars to work and had a 30 minute trip each way and played AC for about 4 months straight... every day back and forth. It works well for a portable since you are just wasting time doing stupid shit like fishing.
If a new AC came out for the 3DS I would buy it and the system day one. |

I was mentioning to one of my pals the other day, I wish that Nintendo would stop making consoles and just focus on games for Xbox & Playstation. I know they won't, but they are just so goddamn Internet-retarded that I feel the only way we will get decent connectivity in Nintendo games is if someone else is handling the network.
