I had no idea he had anything to do with this until two days ago. He co-wrote it with the writer of Cloverfield which is one of my favorite giant monster movies.

Humanity is the Devil

It currently has a 93% aggregate review score on rottentomatoes.com. Not many movies crack the 90% tier, let alone horror films.
Sounds like it is a pretty awesome movie. |

I don't want to give away anything, but I'll say you don't have to be interested in horror movies to enjoy this one.

The Lord of Shadow
|
Imagine my surprise when the following happened:
My wife and I have movie ticket vouchers we have to use by the end of the month. So I suggested movies she might like (Safe House, for example). SHE (the self-proclaimed hate of B-Movies) suggested this one. Taken aback, I question her motives. "You hate horror movies." "Yeah, but Joss Whedon wrote it!" The next sound was my jaw hitting the floor. So her and I will be seeing it soon.

Nice to see Whedon reunited with Goddard. Definitely going to try and convince the GF that this is the movie she wants to see when we go to the cinema tonight. I'm not even that big on horror movies and I have to see this.
I have this feeling that she wants to see 21 Jump Street though (which I hear is pretty good, to be fair) so there may be war. |

I'm surprised how many didn't know Joss Weadon wrote this. I wouldn't sell it as a 'horror' film though, it seems to be someone polarising but with very few people on the dislike side. I get the feeling those are the people that went to see it as a horror.

I only knew it was Whedon because Eliza Dushku and Seth Green were plugging it on their Twitter and Facebook accounts ages ago.

Actually Accepted
|
So, I'll come out and ask.
Is this good because it's Joss Wheaden, or is this good because it's actually good? it has me interested, but I want to make sure my hype-o-meter is reading everything correctly. |

The main 'bad' things I've heard about it where that people went expecting a 'traditional horror' of idiots in the woods and this takes a different spin on things, some people didn't like it.

Totally into you

Saw it last night. It was hilarious! I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in ages. It is certainly not you typical horror movie, so don't go into expecting that.

I just avoid all that awkwardness and don't put my arm around people I'm having my picture taken with. It's better for both of you.
