Pokemon Conquest Coming to the DS in 2012

Nintendo has announced yet another Pokemon game for it's DS handheld (the first being Pokemon Black & White 2). The new game, titled Pokemon Conquest in the U.S. (Pokemon + Nobunaga no Yabou in Japan), is being developed by Tecmo Koei rather than Nintendo's Game Freak studio. Another odd trait for the series is that, rather than taking on the role of a fledgling Pokemon trainer, players will be cast as a young warlord who is somehow linked to the Pokemon.

Gameplay will feature six-on-six turn-based battles, and 2D graphics. There will be nearly 200 Pokemon to befriend as allies in the game. Players will journey through a new setting known as Ransei, based on feudal Japan. Judging from the promo-art, it would seem that you will be able to choose between a male or female warlord (much like in the newer Pokemon titles), though this wasn't confirmed. Pokemon Conquest is currently set to release on June 18, 2012.

I'm glad this is getting a US release, I think the premise is kinda cool.

I'm just glad we're getting another Nobunaga's Ambition game at all.

That's what I love about handhelds, so much more room for experimenting in different territories. I hope this and Theatrythm do well enough to encourage more. Like Mother 3 perhaps.

I went ahead and placed me order. Also pre-ordered Black and White 2 while I was there.

This makes me want a 3DS. Oh well, Disgaea 3 will be out for the Vita in May. That will keep me busy until Christmas.
