So, this is coming out soon. I'm not a huge fan of this type of game, but I think I'll give it a shot, it does look nice and immersive. Hopefully they don't go crazy with the difficulty or anything! I love all of the secrets and riddles; I think the closest game I ever really enjoyed to this sort of dungeon crawling was the point-and-click adventure game Shadowgate, and all these puzzles definitely bring that to mind. I also love how absolutely terrifying some of these monsters look!

I didn't really follow this game all that closely, but after a friend talked about it, I pre-ordered earlier this week.

I had a little time to download and play it this morning before heading to campus, and it is great so far! The atmosphere of it all is really well done and it controls nicely. I wish I had keyboard shortcuts for attacks, but I guess clicking isn't TOO annoying. Really looking forward to playing some more tonight.

Umm, how do you figure out spells? Is it really trial and error?

You'll find scrolls laying around that sometimes have spells on them.

Yeah, my mage is still a spectator. Found a couple of scrolls, but they are for magic schools I put no points in. I found a wand, so I thought "Great, at last he can shoot things!", but the wand only gives you a bonus to your energy.

if you learn a spell through advancement in a school but still have ??? in the spellbook and you havent found a scroll for it, at least in the beginning, you can learn the spell by trying out symbols or symbol combinations. this tactic will mostly fail once spells have 3 symbols.

my general impression:
i enjoy it very very much. it is tough even on normal, the puzzles are really nice and the overall feeling is great.
i recommend this game to anyone how loves games

on a sidenote: if anyone is haveing little freezes when using skills sometimes enable vsync. according to an official guy from the forum this limits the game to 60fps and it helped with my mini freezes

EDIT: Just started. I have:
Minotaur Fighter (Richter Hawk), who I'm grooming to be a tank-type character
Insectoid Mage (Savok ) who is going to go (hopefully) more for fire-based magics.
Human Rouge (Gwen Freya, after my wife's favorite character names)
Human Fighter Isaac Gudleif (After my son. Gudleif means 'divine heir')

Really digging it a LOT right now.

My two mages are doing well. One is Earth/Air, the other is Fire. Have two fighters in the front protecting them.

You'll find an item (a plethora of the damned things, actually) that you can give to your mage to make him useful even without Energy.

I went Minotaur Fighter, Human Fighter, Lizard Rogue, and Human Mage (generalist). I would have gone Insectoid mage, but the portraits were too horrible to stand looking at.


Tip of the post: Pits are not always something to be avoided!

Edit: How the hell do you do that rotating teleporter puzzle?

If it's the one on Level 2, it's deceptively simple. Just hit the first button until the bag is in front of you. From what I understand, the teleports simply go in a circle, with the first going towards the end of the cells, and the second button going towards the teleport in. Eventually you'll telelport out a skeleton guard and the sack to the end of the cells so you can get it.

I fell down a pit as well, netted me a mushroom. Gonna go up to level 1 and see if there are any pits I missed

EDIT: Found this by accident: You can mouse look a good deal by holding the right mouse button. I need to test this to see if it lets you look down a pit or not.

I am liking it as well. It doesn't have...the 'magic' that I thought I would get from it. Like some other games that come along in an older genre occasionally but its ok for now.
Also got myself a Minataur. You just have to really.

This is fun. The first time had to I put a rock on a pressure plate to keep a door open, I giggled.
