Moving a couple countries over:

One of my favorite asian foods of all is Korean bulgogi. I hear that in Korea, it's very common to have bulgogi pizza.

I am stoked about that.

There's a place in Des Moines that makes a crab rangoon pizza.

It's amazing.

There's a place here called Mesa Pizza that makes all kinds of odd pies. I think that they have one that involves some sort of Chinese food. I'll double check.

Edit - Apparently not, but they do have a large variety of pizza toppings.

I'm going to have to get snobby on some of the outrageous choices people are making in this thread. Gen Tsao's? Beef with broccoli? Seriously? You guys know there's more to Chinese food than Panda Express, right?

For the right price, anything is possible...

Seriously though, it's like a half-day project. I marinate, roast and stir-fry the pork shoulder, he rocks the dough, and we somehow manage not to strangle one another. A few hours later, several dozen little heavenly buns come out of the steamer and everyone stuffs themselves silly. It's enough of a pain that we pretty much only do it for birthdays and holidays, though.

Damn, now I have a bao craving. Grrr.

Egg rolls, General Tsu chicken, and pork fried rice.

I've expressed the desire to one day create a big ass egg roll. Like that would be the main dish. Like the size of a big burrito.

I actually planned on stopping in San Francisco for a day or two before I head off to Korea. It, along wit Seattle, are two cities in America I've never been able to get to.

Is there any particular stop I should be looking at?

This thread made me hungry for orange chicken. Or the fried rice from that dingy, almost-greasy spoon place we ordered from when I was a kid.

Damn this thread.

I'm pretty sure that any food you could ever imagine is available somewhere in San Francisco. We have a fantastic dining scene here in the Twin Cities, but San Francisco is on a level I have never experienced anywhere else.

My absolute favorite is Lemongrass Tofu, though that is from a Vietnamese place. They also serve a Szechwan Chicken that is unlike any I have had. Other mainstays are Hot and Sour soup, combination Lo Mein and Hunan Chicken. Of course egg roll and crab rangoon as well.

Every time I go to a Chinese restaurant, I catch myself wondering if anything I order is authentic or Americanized.

Food in SF and the Bay Area at large is the best in the world, as far as I know. And it's ridiculously affordable.

One thing LA has, though, is a ton of food trucks. The food truck phenomenon is all about fitting every menu item from every cuisine in the world into a taco or burrito. Korean tacos and burritos are available at every mile stone.
