Shortened NBA season trade deadline date approaching, March 15th. All discussions here.

So as before with the NHL trade deadline thread I thought we'd do a similar setup here. A lot of rumours and speculation start to get thrown out there and this is when deals and moves start to get made or put out there to the press.

All discussions on NBA FA moves, trades, waiver pick ups, 10 day contracts, etc. here.

Deadline day is Thursday, March 15th @ 3:00 pm EST.

Is Rajon Rondo going to be moved? Dwight Howard, Monta Ellis? Things are heating up.

Also the Atlanta Hawks just signed Center Erick Dampier for the remainder of the season. I assume to replace Al Horford.

Ew, bleacher report.

Anyway, if the Celtics trade Rondo for any of the names that have come up, they are stupid.

Hah my thoughts exactly.

I think Dwight is staying until the end of this year at least. The Nets deal sucks, and now that his momma is apparently telling him to stay in Orlando..

Otis is dumb enough to think he can resign Dwight at the end of the year. I think there's no way in hell, but he might think this.

As far as Rondo... I just don't think there are a lot of great deals for him right now. The C's best chance was CP3 before the season.. and that ship has sailed. I think they'll just continue to dangle him and crush his confidence in the organization without actually getting a deal done.

For my Bulls, I'm fine if they give the Godfather offer for DH. I don't think they will though because for better or worse they think this team is the best they can do right now.

All in all it was a relatively tame trading deadline. I like the Rockets pushing to compete in the playoffs this year, although I still don't think their overall philosophy is one that can be successful in the NBA. You need to basically bottom out to become good in this league.

I was not surprised to see DH/Rondo stay, although it would have been more intriguing to have them move about.

I especially like that Pacers move to add more scoring, although I'm not sure it'll mean much come playoff time.

I'm happy for Sessions. Dude was a class act while he was here in Cleveland and made a lot of improvements to his shot during the off season (3 point, free throw shooting). He played some great basketball while Irving was out. He will do well starting for the Lakers.

I'm just pleased to see the Cavs land another first round pick. Hope this draft is as deep as everyone is claiming.

I feel the Pacers or Sixers could play spoiler by giving the Bulls or Heat a really tough second round match up, and then let allow one of the top two teams to steal a game against the other in the ECF. Bulls/Heat win their second round series 95% of the time, but I have a feeling a one of them is going to get pushed to the brink, even if they win in 5 or 6.

So much for Fish being Lakers royalty. I like that Kupchak isn't getting punked by Kobe. Kobe can make any demand he wants now, no one's listening to him. Kobe's been trying to play GM for years, but he's finally over the hill and not going to demand a trade at this point. Nor will he retire prematurely because he wants to pursue a lot of personal records.

I'm hating Dwight right now. All he did was stretch this where-will-he-sign BS drama for ANOTHER EFFING YEAR. I was hoping this would be the end of it. Or, worst case scenario, this summer would bring the end of it. Nope. Asshole.

As soon as I realized it wasn't gonna be to the tune of Beastie Boys 'You gotta Fight for your Right' then I turned it off. That was a close one.

A Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings will be hilarious. No defense and a lot of shots. I, from this point forward, now deem them, the Milwaukee 'Chucks.'

The Rockets were five deep at the PG spot and decided to waive Jeremy Lin to sign Dalembert. Now they acquire the artist formerly known as Derek Fisher and and what's left of his unappealing contract?

Why am I not an NBA GM?

Agreed. They took on salary to "buy" the draft pick, this isn't an uncommon thing.

Fish is probably going to be waived anyways.

EDIT: that didn't take long. Fisher just got bought out. Now he's a FA.
