Have you eaten at Tacodeli yet? Right around the corner, and so good. I go there most Mondays at 11:30 to get the El Picosito.

Oh, and just up the road (again, west of MoPac on Parmer) is a little shopping center with It's a Grind coffee (better and less expensive than Starbucks), Silver Grill Cafe (breakfast tacos, cheap and big as yo head) and a Kolache Factory. I know you're on a diet/exercise program... so am I, and when I'm weak this is where I go.

Oh yes, I love Tacodeli. It's a relatively common spot for my team to go to lunch, since it's right across the highway. I'm a sucker for the poblano and the cowboy.
I've been to It's a Grind to study with my girlfriend a couple times. It is pretty nice. The only reason I go there less often than Starbucks is that the latter is more directly on my way to CS. I will have to try Silver Grill though. I love me some breakfast tacos. How's that Blue River (or Cool River or whatever) back behind that center?

Cool River- it's pricey upscale bar food. Not my scene, but not bad food. It's where managers take all of us when they want

Ah. Maybe worth it for an occasional date night then.
Speaking of bars. Where are y'all's favorite spots up here? I really enjoyed Frank downtown and am told The Ginger Man apparently caters to the geek crowd (I wouldn't guess it looking at their webpage), but the only place I've been to up north is The Hideout Pub; they have good food and pleasant enough people, but not exactly my crowd.

![]() My local bar is way down south near the St. Edward's campus, and it's a complete dive. Just the way I like it. You might not appreciate it, though. Further south from 45th on Burnet is Draught House. It's a nice little place with a nice, small outdoor area. Decent selection of Draft Beers, but the lady working lied to my face when she said they'd not served Smithwick's in years (I get it every time I go, and I know I had some last august). The Opal Divine's aren't bad. The food's pricey compared to the quality, but some people find the one thing they love that Opal's does right. But they also have a decent beer selection. I guess you should be specific on the type of crowd you're looking for.

For a dive bar up north, there is C. Hunts on Burnet Rd. just east of MoPac past the IBM campus. Gravel parking lot, and an actual ice trough all the way across the bar makes it an old school icehouse.
If you like sports (I don't), the Little Woodrow's on Parmer has a bunch of screens. I don't go to many bars up north, but lots of food/bars for lunches since I work right there at MoPac and Parmer. Opal Divines is ok, I also frequent Bonedaddys and the Brick House.

![]() But anyways, I'm here! And I'm tired. I was ok with living on the 3rd floor until I had to carry boxes up 3 flights of stairs. Now I need to find a furniture store. I live off of William Cannon. What is a good store nearby? |

Signed my lease for a place in Hyde Park! Right on Avenue H behind Shipe Park, just where we wanted. Looks like I'll be there May 1st, but probably need to stay in a hotel for a few days while they get it ready. I'll also be there alone for the first few weeks, so if anyone wants to show me a couple bars I'd gladly buy a few rounds. Or just hang out in an empty house and play games.
To that end I'll need furniture. Any suggestions? |

Only buy these.
FILL YOUR HOUSE WITH AWESOME!! I wish I could get one, but I have a cat. And I've owned cats and beanbag chairs before. And it's just not enjoyable when they're slashed open/defiled by felines. EDIT: Oh, that reminds me. I have to buy a futon for my spare bedroom after I move in August. Thanks, Xerxes! (Well, my parents said they'd get to stay with me if since I'd have the spare room. So I decide what they sleep on! AHhaahahaahaha-- Yeah, I'll probably have to sleep on it while they steal my bed. Damn. Stupid full-thought process). Edit 2: Oh, and the reason I'm not providing good places to get furniture is because I have no idea where to go except for the IKEA outside of town.
