So where's the preload for this? It's the eve of release and there isn't one yet.

I guess it is finally available. Not much of a preload.

So, this is pretty good. I kinda suck at the stealth bit still, so more often than not, I have to shoot my way out of a situation. Also it auto-saved me just at the moment where I'm about to die, and made me have to restart a level.

So I guess nobody else has had a chance to play? It's a very solid game, but there's one thing I really don't like. It's really hard to stay stealthy most of the time. I might be able to stay quiet for half a level, but the game will force you into confrontations you can't avoid, when I would rather try to keep it clean all the way. The guards can also spot you almost immediately from very long distances, which doesn't help.
But the X-Ray shots are tons of fun. I usually go for the headshot 80% of the time, but in the heat of battle, my aim isn't always the cleanest, and I end up getting something ridiculous by accident, like a nut shot, or blowing someone's grenade up. And when the stealth works, it works beautifully (like using the noise of a very large steam vent to mask my shots). Or maybe I still just suck at being stealthy. I've yet to try the multiplayer though. Haven't heard anything about it either. It's been a pretty quiet release for this game, come to think of it. |

I played the demo again tonight. I think I'll probably pick this up when my new PC gets here later in the week.

I don't know what it is with Rebellion, they make some of the funnest but unpolished games. It's not a bug thing as much as little things like weird AI stuff, movement/collision glitches etc. I'd love to see what Rebellion could do with a larger budget and possibly a bit more man power. This type of game just begs to made with Cryengine 3 or Frostbite 2.
Anyway, it's fun as hell, seriously, seriously fun, as long as you can look passed the unlikely action scenarios which seem a bit out of place if you're playing on the harder difficulty levels with the more sim like bullet physics. It's unfortunate that the fun aspect of gaming seems to be a dying commodity in a lot of the new big budget, over the top action shooters. This will most likely be the first FPS game I've played all the way through in years... Possibly since Modern Warfare 1 if Gears of War doesn't count as an FPS. I was playing Crysis 2 before this came out and now I really wish it had the same kind of sniping gameplay, either way it's going on the back burner (again) until I'm finished with Sniper V2. |

I played through the first 2 levels yesterday and enjoyed it for the most part, although I find the enemy detection is a bit off. Staying stealthy is near impossible and I can't figure out if that's just "the game" or that I am positioning myself wrong or something.
One point in the 2nd level I was prone and stuck myself just ever so slightly out of the edge of a window, and instantly the sniper was taking pot shots at me. It took 3 shots before I could figure out where he was, and it turned out he was prone and 90% inside the roof of a building. Looked like a bug.

The few reviews I have seen have placed the game squarely at average. Reviewers can look past horrible endings and tons of bugs and broken quests in games like Skyrim and ME3, but will tear a game like this to pieces. I can't help but think the real reason is, Rebellion didn't buy the reviewer a hooker in a fancy hotel while doing a review on a free copy of the game.

The reviews I've read pretty much have the same complaints about the stealth that I do. I keep trying to do certain levels stealthily, when they're not designed for it. It's kinda frustrating when I want to play this game the way I want it.
I still enjoy playing this game though. If there's one thing this game does right, it's the feeling you get when you pull off that crazy, impossible shot, or that time you killed a Nazi by shooting him through both of his kidneys. Absolutely epic. |

This is the most fun I've had in a single-player shooter in longer than I can even remember.

I think this will be a nice hidden gem.
Tbh reviewers opinions have never meant anything to me. Most of them are jokes anyway.

So, multiplayer is pretty fun, but very lag dependent. It's tense as fuck, sneaking around, trying to both get enough look to spot enemy snipers, while not getting shot yourself.
Really wanna try some co-op now.

The problem is, from a reviewer's perspective most of the issues they bring up are legitimate, making the scores pretty much in the right ballpark. Fortunately this is one of those game's where the fun (for a lot of players) drastically over shadows all the issues and inconsistencies but it's difficult to base a review score on the fun factor alone given how relative that is in light of it's pretty significant issues.
If I didn't enjoy sniping in video games as much as I do I can easily see how all the other issues could ruin the game for me. |
