Nintendo 3DS Firmware Update Delayed to December 8

The latest firmware update for the Nintendo 3DS, originally scheduled for November, has been delayed to December 8, 2011.

Nintendo says that the reason for the delay is that they are in the final stages of testing before releasing it to the public. Some additions of the update include:

*3D video recording using the 3DS Camera.
*New game content for StreetPass Mii Plaza, such as Find Mii II.
*Transferring downloaded software and data between Nintendo 3DS's.

For some consolation, the recently released Super Mario Land 3D comes with a firmware update that allows users to join a friend's game in progress. And the upcoming Mario Kart 7 has an in-game "Community" feature that allows players to form and join clans without the need to exchange friend codes.

3d video recording is pretty neat and some new games for streetpass is always welcome... need 1 more fking piece to the kirby puzzle and can never get it.

what about the remaining ambassador games that were promised... any word on those?

For the GBA titles, Nintendo said that they would be available before the end of the year.

Nintendo is usually really good about hitting their announced dates.

This sucks. I wasn't requiring any of these features, but I sure was expecting them.

The first bolded part is great. The other part is... well, ABOUT DAMN TIME!

If Nintendo does this every time they have to apologize for something (I can't believe I'm saying this), maybe they ought to make more mistakes just so they'll give us more of the videogame equivalent of "Make-up sex".

Supposedly the Communities function was supposed to be a system wide function but got dropped due to time constraints. I'd love to see it implemented in a later update. While still being ass-backwards, Nintendo have made at least some strides to improving their system and online functions.
