Fatshark Announces Krater, A Top-Down Post Apocalyptic RPG

Click to see the rest of the images

Developer Fatshark (Lead & Gold, Bionic Commando 2: Rearmed) have announced their next game. Krater is a top-down post apocalyptic RPG loot crawler, featuring up to 4 players in co-op. I think this may appeal to parts of our community.

You choose from one of four classes and a number of races before you go exploring a crater for phat loots. In solo play you control all members of your party simultaneously, choosing them from a roster of characters you've build up. Presumably in co-op each character is under direct control. The developers say the loot system is inspired by games like Diablo 2 & Borderlands, but with more of an emphasis on crafting and upgrading. So Diablo meets Fallout? Or Borderlands meets Torchilght? I can get behind that.

Fatshark will be offering early versions of the game to the community so that they can influence the development. You can sign up here. At first the game will be PC-only, but if things go well they hope to expand to XBLA and PSN.

Some very unnecessary information: The T in the Krater logo is the symbol for the Swedish subway system (in Stockholm), with its three dimensional design from the 50's. There, now you know what to look for when traveling in Stockholm.

Looks like Torchlight: Fallout. Not necessarily a bad thing, mind you.
