I think I'm finally free of WoW. I have no desire to go back after reading this.

All the same I was tempted to pick up the year subscription until I realised it's WoW beta access and not Diablo 3 beta access that you get.

I'm with you, after their Dota and SC2 announcements, I won't have time anyway for this. Case closed!

Huh, no Goblin Monks.

I think WoW just jumped the shark. Pandarians were supposed to be kept as a silly joke.. now it's a legit thing. Activision also did the Kung-fu panda game.

I feel like Blizzard has given up on WoW as a game with any sort of integrity and vision.

Integrity. Integrity? Integrity.

Seriously, it's an MMO. It's a fun space to hang out and go on adventures. They jumped the shark because...what? "There are panda people"? They're a bit silly, but a good target to add an "asian" feeling section of the game.

The pandas are silly because you've defined them as silly. They seem like a neat race.

World of Warcraft has always been a silly game with a serious storyline. It's a weird dichotomy. You've got world-destroying threats like Deathwing and the Old Gods causing huge death and destruction. The world leaders go to war at the drop of a hat and talk broodingly about the state of affairs. All while players celebrate goofy holidays, run around with cute vanity pets, and stumble across thousands of pop-culture references.

WoW has been a lighthearted MMO since its inception.. I'm totally with you.

What raids?

Honestly, I'm curious as to how the healing class will work. I'm also tempted by the year pass.

14.99 for 12 months = 180 bucks. Assuming Diablo 3 is 60, that's 10 bucks a month for WoW PLUS guaranteed access to the Beta. Seems almost worth it to me.

There is no end game raiding with Mists was my understanding.

Its basically the PvP expansion.

What I've heard is there is not set 'major bad guy' but there will be raids. They simply can't NOT have raids. They'd alienate the top 3% of their hardcore player base

Yeah, that was my understanding, too. You couldn't make a WoW expansion with no end game raiding. The fans would leave in droves.

There will almost certainly be the usual number of dungeons, heroics, and raids. You just won't be dealing with a world-ending threat. Just looking at some of the zone descriptions it looks like Pandaria has plenty of bad guys that will need to be put down. Perhaps the players will be brought in to deal with the Pandaren's enemies in order to curry favor with the neutral race for either the Horde or Alliance.

After fighting the Lich King and a Dragon Aspect dealing with whatever crap is annoying Panda people seems pretty anti-climatic to me. Then again I stopped playing WoW and now I know I'll probably never come back, so this is probably a good thing in the end for me.

Cata drug me back into the game after years of absence with its coolness and Mists makes me want to never play again.

I . . . I think I'm good, actually. It would be interesting, and I have a LOT of pets. . . And level 90 will likely give us those "holy shit" skills they didn't give us at 85, but I don't have time for another MMO. Hell, I don't have time for the one MMO I still play :P

I wonder if you punch people to heal them.

This would also help me fulfill my dream of punching a dragon to death, though Skyrim will be out first.

Good luck, WoW.

That one healing ability they show makes me picture a combat healer, someone who stays in melee range of a target, doing a mix of damage and healing. In particular healing other melee DPS and Tanks.

Yes, but remember: In Skyrim we use words to solve our problems. Violent words capable of killing and enslaving dragons.
