Forza 4 CofG Car Club/Rival Thread

Just created the official Colony of Gamers Car Club.

Somebody already took COG/CoG from us, so we've had to settle for this:

CofG

Send a join invite along and I'll add you when I'm online.

Rivalries to start soon!

Installing now.

I grabbed that new wireless racing wheel, while I know it's not as good as a real wheel I'm hoping it will be better than using the stock controller. If anything it will hold me over until I can pull together $600 for a proper Fanatic wheel setup.

I had considered getting the wheel, but then I found out it doesn't support a wired headset? No sale if I can't heckle my homies while we're racing.

Also, who took COG? Bastiches!

Invite sent, thanks!

My lord, did you guys import your profile from Forza 3? I was level 41 and it gave me a few million credits worth of cars! A Veyron, DBR9, R8, Camaro, M3 GT2... this feels like cheating!

Should follow this, I think...

Not only is there no support for a headset but it doesn't have any shoulder (bumper) buttons either. You have to disconnect the wheel and reconnect the S-controller if you want to navigate most of the sub menus in F3 or F4. Pretty big fucking oversite if you ask me. That being said it is leaps and bounds better than the controller and it's only $60 so picking this up to use while you save up for a proper racing wheel set up isn't to hard on the pocket book. I'm gonna toss F3 back in real quick and see if this thing improves my time any.

The voice activated menu system is pretty sweet as well.

Since it reads your save I'm going to up a few levels in F3 before installing F4. I wish I would have looked this stuff up earlier.

It's not worth much to level up in F3. I was level 50 and got a measly 60,000 CR to start with in-game; considering you have to re-buy any car that's NOT on that import list? 60,000 CR is bullshit. I'm not liking the fact that I need to grind away again to re-buy my Exige and FXX.

If I have the AI drive for me do I still level up? That way I can play DrkS on PS3 while my driver does all the work

What wheel is this? I assume no pedal setup with it?

That looks really goofy and cheap. At $60, I'd be more inclined to try and find an older Logitech wheel set on sale or used and skip the toy.

There are only a handful of compatible wheels with Forza 4:

- The Speed Wheel linked above
- The out-of-production MS Wireless Force Feedback Wheel (should be $70-$100 on Craigslist)
- The MadCatz wheel ($250)
- Fanatec Porsche GT2 (dunno the price)
- Fanatec CSR ($350-ish if you opt for the cheaper pedals)

Well that's disappointing. Since when did games start axing out older models of wheel? The last few racing games that came out I thought still supported mostly everything?

That's what I thought at first, but we already have two positive reviews by CoGers, so I'm seriously thinking about getting one.

On an unrelated note, it seems like they have wised up a bit with the car restrictions. I just started the third championship, and a race was offered that the only restriction was normally aspirated cars (opponents were in class C, I was in a class E car). So I tried to jump in the Audi R8 that I got from importing my old save, and went back to the race select screen. When I went back, that race was no longer offered. This is the only one I've tried to game like that, but it looks like it may be tailored to prevent you taking a massively overkill car to lower class races, at least in the World Tour mode.

It's not the games, it's Microsoft keeping a lock on 360 peripherals. None of the Logitech wheels have ever worked on any 360 racing game.

Shall we start our rivalries in the club with what's sure to be the first thing a lot of people go for: Star in a Reasonably Priced Car?

Anyone know who Smokey899 is? Got a invite request from him...

Liquid, I've already tried to beat your time at the SIARPC, could barely get within a second of you. Do you use manual shifting?

Very disconcerting. My intention was to get a wheel I'd be able to use on both PS3/PC as well as X360, but by your mention, it looks like that won't be possible.

That sucks, since there's a few racing games that I've been wanting to play, but they are spread across different gaming platforms.

I think the only one out there that does that is the new Fanatec wheel.

I think I sent my invite request. It looks like I got the tag right. Gamer tag is TheRealJArcane.

Fun so far, although the difficulty seems a bit Screwy. Artificial, somehow. Will explain more after more play.
