New Hawken Video Is Like A Shotgun Full of Mech Combat Goodness

From the PC Gamer conference at PAX, comes a new gameplay trailer for Hawken. We first saw Hawken earlier this year, and even then it looked like ten kinds of awesome. This new desert map shows a more open environment than the metropolis of earlier trailers.

Developer Adhesive Games also released a story trailer a few days ago, so you can get caught up on why these giant mechs are fighting. They're not yet saying when they hope to have it ready for release, but they're still aiming for releases on the PC, 360 & PS3.

I cannot find the words for how stupidly excited I am for this game.

I wasn't sold on the previous videos...

But this video was damn good. I love the cockpit details, the movement seems good. Alot less fruity "flying-junkpile" stuff going on.

mechs have legs. keep em on the ground I say. That was terrestrial enough for me. Anyone else catch on to him "shutting down" to restore HP? That I can approve of given the fast pace of the game. But I'd still prefer a more simulation style vitality system.

Hah, I didn't catch that. I thought he was shutting down so he would be harder for the guy behind him to see... like no tracking signature or something.

I am drooling. I could live in that mech.

Like a trucker.

Pictures of women slapped all over the cockpit, fast-food wrappers on the floor, empty meth vials in the glove box and of course, I'd never drive faster than I could see.

Murphy, that's a feeling I got when I first played Steel Battalion! That it was a lot like being a long-haul trucker with a cot in the back. One of your lesser-used video monitors would have a porn channel playing. CB radio would warn you of bandits in the area.

Actually this game needs to be made separately. Think Autoduel meets Battletech.

Squid, you have an SB controller? Have you done any matchmaking with it? There was a service to make it continue working after the servers went down I think.

It's in storage at the moment, not used it in years.

Same, it's been a couple for me too. Not enough room to keep it out, but if I had a game room I'd build a cabinet for it and one for my race driving setup!

Plus my Xbox semi-bricked from a custom firmware and I have been too lazy to re-crack it.

I don't even own an original Xbox anymore, yet still have games and controllers.
A friend of mine used to play Steel Battalion in a reclined LaZboy, with the controller on a lowered ironing board across his lap, and a 5.1 system positioned around the chair, bass bin pressed against the back, lights low.

Yeah, I had a converted shelf from a printer stand that would fit over the chair. It was a little ridiculous, and that's where the semi truck comparisons set in. You made sure you had everything you needed within reach because getting out of the cockpit was a pain in the ass.
