HP TouchPad $99 Fire Sale

Just an update, after playing with this device for about 2 weeks now I can safely say that I will not be selling it. While it is most definitely a toy that I do not need, it is a very fun one.

I did the simple 1.5GHZ overclock using the uberkernel and a program called Govnah. Now the issues I had with stuttering HD video off youtube are gone and even ORB will stream my 720p rips without any problems.

It's a fun little device to have while you are watching TV or are on the road and have a wifi connection. There's even an SNES emulator that works very well, although having to use the touchpad for buttons is a bit awkward for those twitch heavy games. But for RPG's, it's perfect.

I'm loving the Touchpad. The wireless charger makes it into an ambient device that is always displaying information.

I love having my comic books on it.

None of these devices will ever replace a real computer. Having a real keyboard is too valuable. But for light stuff around the house and reading the Touchpad is a dream.

My order from SMB will be here Wednesday. Can't friggin wait. It's been almost a month since my order. Two will come, one for my wife and I, one for my mother for her birthday. That's one helluva Bday present.

I'd love to keep both, one for me and one for my wife, but I have another order coming once they make more in 6-8 weeks. 3, so if I like the one we get this week I'll keep another and sell (at cost) the other 2 to family or friends. This second order was my accidental order, but I never cancelled it, thinking I'd never get them. If I don't get them, at least I'll have one.

So excited to give it a spin.

I am jealous of my wife right now. She is home in maternity and is setting up the Touchpads and charging them. Can't wait to try them out. It's about time I actually got one.

I've got to say I'm really bummed I won't be able to get one of these for $99, I should have gone directly through HP instead of wasting my order on Amazon.

I was really looking forward to putting Android on it and having a digital comic reader and fancy touch screen remote for my home theater. #firstworldproblem

Yeah, I haven't had any luck either. The leather case I have now is too big and cumbersome to be enjoyable.

Make sure you run all of the hacks for it, made the thing sooooo much faster. Even without the OC hack to 1.5.

wow disabling logging made it sooooo much faster. Almost wish I didn't already promise one to my mom. Oh well.

I have slickdeals set up for Touchpads, I get constant emails during the day for chargers and cases. There should be places available, most of them seem to be on Amazon.

Edit: Ironic, I don't have a touchpad, I can't seem to find one, yet I keep getting reminded of that with every email.

HP really ahs dropped the ball on this. I made 1 order for two touchpads on sbso. I have had the charges post and drop 4 times now and they just activated them for a 5th time tonight. Either charge me and ship it or quit messing with my card.

I think it's your bank not HP. I read something that said the bank must put a hold or charge or something every so many days as the previous one will expire. It's a bank policy perhaps. I never had a single charge on my Discover until they shipped though.

I gave my second one to my mother this morning. Wish I had kept it and bought her a Nook or something. It's a cool device but it's hard for me to use in regards to typing. Having a bluetooth keyboard would be nice but then why not just have a laptop?

The wife and I will fight over the one I have now so I wont be able to make any porn bookmarks and make sure I clean the history each time I use it.

I also need to get used to webOS. My wife couldn't figure out how to close internet windows. I figured it out but I wish you could just hit an x to close out instead of tossing cards. Or maybe I am doing it wrong.

The "lid" that covers the screen is not secured. It just flops around.
