Some new tidbits, via WinterisComing:

On the Blackwater Battle:

HBO mocked up a section of King’s Landing wall for the Blackwater. The wall is 20 metres away from a stretch of water, allowing skiffs full of soldiers to disembark under heavy arrow, ballistae and boiling oil fire from the walls.

The Blackwater battle will feature a very clever aquatic battering ram. Basically it’s on a boat with rib-like supports sticking out the top. When the boat beaches, the soldiers unpack the battering ram, spin the boat upside down, reconnect the ram and then run it up to the gates with the hull of the boat acting as cover from missile fire. It’s basically a medieval version of the landing craft from D-Day (my take, not the magazine’s).

The article also mentions how long the battle will be.

Anyone have a breakdown of who has what exclusives for the upcoming GoT DVD/BR release? My go to, Amazon, seems like they have nada. At least US wise. UK has one.

Pretty much why I never bother buying any Series to own. It's bullshit. Last series I bought on DVD was Lost Season 1 & 2 and I regretted it.

April, and frankly, HBO just needs to offer their service, HBO Go, as a stand alone purchase.

I have Cablevision and HBO Go doesn't support Cablevision. This shit is unacceptable. It's literally the first time I have to schedule my life around a TV Show's airdate, since Lost.

I understand HBO's wish to piggy back on their current base and increase profits, while not poaching their current TV base subs. But, I think they would be VERY surprised by the number of people who would easily pay for HBO Go stand alone package. I am sure HBO can find a way to differentiate between TV/Go Subs and Go stand alone. Don't offer the extras. Maybe a delay. Ask a higher price? Hopefully they can figure something out.

Honestly, I think they should just pile onto Hulu Plus. Game of Thrones, True Blood, Entourage, The Wire, and HBO Boxing, as well as their huge backlog of finished series, would explode Hulu Plus's subscription rate. It'll be awesome if Hulu Plus actually tried doing Ala Carte subscription methods.

$10 for basic Hulu Plus, plus $5 extra for HBO, and I'm in.

This would cause a television revolution. If every major station offered their programming at a small price, people could pick and choose what they wanted to watch and save a ridiculous amount of money while companies cut out the middle man...namely cable/satellite companies.

A la Carte pricing would be terrific, but I do not see it happening anytime soon sadly. If more of the mainstream audience actually subbed to things like Hulu+ and HBO Go, it may start swaying the likes of HBO, and others to offer their programming in a different method.

It would be nice to pick and pay for what I want to watch.

Of course, the downside is we'd all probably end up with reality tv as the only option while the masses pile money into that shit while the funds for things like GoT dries up when the amount of people that watch it isn't enough to keep up with the production values.

Looks good, but damn, it doesn't feel like the first series was that long ago.

It really gives me pause for concern that Martin won't have both books, or even the next book done by the time they've burned through 6 series.

In theory, he's past the part of the books that was giving him trouble now. Whether he'll get stuck somewhere else remains to be seen, but I like to think he learned his lesson after Meereen.
