Book Recommendation Help?

Looking for some "post-apocalypse" books that're decent - suggestions?

Good News by Edward Abbey

Slapstick by Kurt Vonnegut is kinda post-apoc, minus the catastrophic event.

Earth Abides by George R. Stewart

The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi is kind of post-apoc, being as it takes place after oil runs out and the world order collapses and reforms.

I should be able to give you a ton of recommendations but I've read so many in the genre (thanks to its proliferation as cheap ebooks) that I really can't remember any specific titles. Kindle really needs a way to quickly give books a 5 star rating as you read them.

Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. A great novel.

Pomeroy's suggestions are great as well.

Pulled off NY Times (best imo bolded):

The Road
The Stand
Y: The Last Man
A Canticle for Leibowitz
The Drowned World
The Passage
World War Z
The World Without Us
The Day of the Triffids
The Last Man

Also another recommendation for Earth Abides.

Are you partial to Comics?

The Walking Dead, Wasteland and Y:The Last Man come to mind.

I second A Canticle for Leibowitz -- this is one of the classics of science fiction, and a very good novel besides.

Hey, I kinda know that guy... but I haven't gotten around to reading any of his work yet. You liked that one?

Yeah, in particular the setting and how it plays out is quite entertaining. Definitely one of those "oh shit, humankind is finished" settings. The characters are kind of dumbasses, at least at first, but I think it's a deliberate choice by the author.
