While I never liked the stomps or soccer kicks, I do agree that the knees should be allowed. It forces people to take a more defensive position on the ground (ie pulling into guard) since just flopping there on your side will almost guarantee a knee to the nose.
Gonna hunt DREAM down now... If you remember any other recent events worth recommending (besides UFC), please let me know. PS> Love the suplex. Can't remember who it is, but I recall an animated gif of someone KOing a dude with the biggest suplex I've ever seen. He was like 6 feet in the air before coming down on his head.

Torres vs. Mizugaki was a closer contest than I thought it would be. Mizugaki won the first round for sure, and maybe the third, but Torres landed cleaner combos and was controlling the octagon more with that clinch. I think Mizugaki just went up in the 135 rankings, even in a loss.

Absolutely, he lost a decision to one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world. Not only did he not get finished, but as you pointed out he won a couple of rounds(I thought he won the third). I'll be interested to see what they do with him. I imagine he'll be getting a rematch in the foreseeable future.

Yeah his offense consisted of one punch shots. Diaz beat him everywhere. I was really hoping for a better performance after his last defeat. Looked like more of the same.

It wasn't even more of the same. At least in his last fight against Cung Le he gave Cung a run for his money in the second round before the broken arm. I suspect it was the weight cutting that gassed Frank. The same thing happened to De La Hoya in his fight with Pacquiao.

Yeah I can't see betting against Silva. I would really like to see Shogun show up for a brutal KO. I've got nothing against Liddell, but he's toward the end of his career whereas Shogun's got a lot left, assuming he gets himself on the right track again.

I will be rooting for Leites just because; Silva has been "unbeatable" for too long.

Don't get me wrong, If I were to bet it would be on Liddell. I just wish Shogun would be the additional contender that he could be. If he loses, I would be surprised if the UFC would keep him unless he took a drastic pay cut. They signed him for a lot of money and he has done nothing to earn it.

I would love to see Anderson get flash K.O'd, if only to see Sherdog explode hah. It's not going to happen though, Anderson will have another win tonight.

Meh... fight.
Anderson doesn't have it in him anymore, and everyone that fights him is too scared to do anything. He needs to fight some hungry for the title, not all these fracking punks...

Anderson needs a good opponent to really shine. Thales Leites was not that opponent. How many times did he just lay down and expect to Silva to follow him? It was ridiculous and frustrating.

Fedor and GSP. They go where the fight goes, if it goes to the ground you can guarantee they will be there to lay down the punishment. If it's on the feet they both have no trouble going on the offensive. Fedor in particular adjusts to the fight at hand.
I would love to see GSP vs Silva, Silva loves to punish aggressive fighters with Punches and knees but if GSP could get him down I would love to see how he fared with GnP or submissions. On Rua vs Chuck, it's no real surprise that Chuck got knocked out yet again, it wasn't long ago when Rashad layed him out and I'm wondering if he has had the time to recover properly. A few years ago that punch wouldn't have done much, but since Jackson layed him out he seems to go down to more and more punches. Last edited by Crowe; 04-19-2009 at 03:23 AM. |

Thank God Chuck is finished fighting , watching him get knocked out fight after fight has become pretty boring. And Silva is a pimple on Fedor's ass.

I think I'm beginning to enjoy Sherdog right after a UFC just as much as I enjoy the fights. Right after every UFC there are so many thread resurrections creating some epic laughs, watching a "Shogun has no chance" type thread being resurrected and then flamed hard is......oh so enjoyable.
I also love the "I bet this much money on.." threads. |
