Four of my all-time favorite FPS games.

If it has weapons, and is played in first-person , it's an FPS and always will be!

If it can beat Thief 2 in stealth, we have a winner here folks. That is asking a lot, but as others mentioned. That is some pedigree behind it. Lets hope this pans out half as good as the write-up in the OP.

I will be playing the ever popular "wait and see" game.
Games are to hard to judge at this stage. While the premise looks good, I have a hard time believing that Bethesda's going to make it through a whole game without a conversation tree.

Also, I hate stealth games...Here's hoping someone finally does something awesome with the genre that gets me involved.

Who are you?
Players take on the role of Corvo, the Empress’ legendary bodyguard. As the game starts, Corvo is falsely imprisoned for her murder. What the corrupt Lord Regent behind the coup didn’t realize is that Corvo is legendary for a reason. He’s not only a skilled combatant accomplished in the art of not being seen, but Corvo has a suite of supernatural powers that combine with his natural talents and unusual gadgets to make him one of the most lethal men in the known world.

You have powers & gadgets which give you lots of options when given a task, and they can be combined for cool effects. But the AI tracks your collateral damage, and alters the game based on that, which sounds a lot like the AI director from Left 4 Dead. So a steampunk-ish Thief with L4D AI and Bioshock-like powers. How's that for a tagline.

The GI info page also says that it's coming in Spring 2012, which is sooner than I assumed. (I figured later 2012, early 2013)

Fallout New Vegas was good but buggy. Brink was also good but buggy. Hunted was bad. They're not a great publisher at this point, but they consistently put out new IPs, which isn't too common at other publishers.

A massive patch was just released, so if the bugs really annoyed - time to try it again. I started over a new character ... and so far its significantly better and plays much smoother. And there seems to be more randomness in the world.

GI has put up an interactive map with info about the world of Dishonored. Frankly it's a really irritating way to get the info, but what are you going to do?
