Another hilarious review. Yahtzee is spot-on in assertion that the touch-pad on the World Tour guitar peripheral is a joke. You never have any idea when the fuck the slide sections are coming, and it's near impossible to fret the notes as you struggle to remember where your fingers went off to. And, despite not playing Deus Ex, I really enjoyed the sing-song outro. I'm off to buy a trenchcoat and look on wikipedia for a conspiracy to fight.

I hated Mirror's Edge. Hated. Hated. Hated.
I feel like Yahtzee pulled punches in the ME review and could have really reamed DICE if he wanted to. |

from the sound of it ME as a game sucks but the design and the idea and the fact they where trying something new has lead to people not ripping on it as much as they may have... i'm still going to buy it on the PC but i'm a sucker

I agree with Yahtzee wholeheartedly. Mirror's Edge is a decent experiment, but it's far from being a good game.

The ME demo didn't feel like something I'd pay $60 for, but I'll pick it up at some point in the future. As for the ZP installment, less laugh-out-loud than previous entries, but I like it when he's a bit serious, too.

I prefer a good game to an original one, Baron.
Oh, and DaX, it's called a third-person shooter.

I agree with him though when Mirror's Edge was focused on jumping, I loved it. It was the sheer amount of guns (and the fact I was trying to do the "By Faith Alone" achievement on Normal) that had me THIS close to just ejecting the disc and being done with it.
It didn't help that all of the points Yahtzee brings up about the paper thin story and complete lack of explanation about why the world is the way it is really didn't give much incentive for progression besides just getting it finished. The next time I play it, which may be never, I'm just going to use guns. It might actually be enjoyable then.

Do you really think the gunplay will be anything good? I have my doubts.

Near the end of the game, I am sure a segment where I must have spent 40 minutes trying to navigate a rooftop full of snipers and cops would have taken me about 2 tries if I had disarmed a sniper and started plugging away at the interlopers. Gah, just thinking about that part of the game makes me angry.
