He didn't seem to like it as much as Gabe from PA did.

You know, I find myself disagreeing with Gabe more often than not on game recommendations.
Oh yeah, and this was a great Zero Punc. Loved it when he said he didn't have anything against mixed-class characters, but wouldn't want them to be alone with his kids. |

I've been waiting for a complete edition on Steam. But if it is a single player MMO with far too many side quests, it sounds more like a chore than a game. And yes, a great review from Yahtzee.

And Loving Every Minute

The key is the gameplay. My roommate doesn't really give a fuck about the plot and the quests are kinda dreary but he loves the combat so much it balances out for him.

This week on Zero Punctuation we have NeverDead.
He seems to like the core gameplay idea, too bad about the implementation. Such a tricky thing. And I don't know about you gents but I know which upgrades I'd roll with. |

We got Syndicate up this week.
One of my friends played this game and liked it, but by god did he say "hack" about 200 times while describing the gameplay. After he was done I asked him if he played the original games. He thought that was the first game. So count me among the irritated about licensing an old property to do nothing interesting with it. |

I like how he pointed out the obvious at the end with modern shooter gamers not caring and people who remember the old Syndicate wanting to start EA's office on fire. I'm sure the game will sell poorly.

I agreed with what he said about the Mako in the Mass Effect 3 review. After completing the 1st game again for the 4th time I really do miss the Mako in the 2nd and 3rd game.
Sure it had it's flaws (like the archaic controls, lack of boost, and the awful aiming reticle), but at least you felt like you were exploring an alien world.

The problem was that there were maybe 5 locations that felt like they "existed" the rest may as well have been randomly generated.
Couple that with the crappy aiming, goofy combat, and shoehorned story sections. It was just not worth it. That said, I wouldn't have minded if they had included an improved version in 2 and 3. The hammerhead doesn't count. It just turned up the goofy combat to 11. |

"It could have been worse." is what BioWare should be saying about their ending. At least it is funny and true.

Half the tedium was sucked out of the game. I laud Bioware's ability to efficiently trim the fat from their game. They aren't sentimental about just losing a feature that negatively impacted the experience for many players.

But I actually liked driving around in the Mako looking for stuff. Yes nearly all of the maps were randomly generated, I know. They could have done so much more with it than just say fuck it, we'll do some shitty scanning mini-game instead. Now that was awful and needed to get axed.

True. The mako was more fun than the scanning. I also did not mind the hacking in ME1 or 2 on PC. The PC version of ME had a different and more fun hacking mini game. I felt they trimmed too much fat from ME3 and replaced it with lame fetch quests. Wow, much better.
